Dr. Schwartz is the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for the Mid-South Group of Tenet Healthcare (South Carolina and Tennessee). Under his leadership, Saint Francis Hospital-Memphis earned the prestigious Advanced Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center certification from The Joint Commission. Saint Francis Hospital-Memphis and Saint Francis Hospital-Bartlett received the distinction of being Accredited Chest Pain Centers from the Society of Chest Pain Centers, and have garnered disease-specific certifications for hip, knee and stroke from the Joint Commission.
He earned his Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine at the College of Osteopathic Medicine Residency at Tucson Medical Center. Before assuming his role at Saint Francis Healthcare, Schwartz was in a variety of administrative roles with Sentara Health System based in Woodbridge, Virginia and Vanguard Health Systems in Nashville.
Donna Ryan joined the East Cooper Medical Center Governing Board in 2018. Prior to her retirement, Donna was the President of CGI Federal, a wholly owned operating subsidiary of CGI Inc., a Canadian multinational information technology, consulting and systems integration company. Donna had operational responsibility for a $1.4 billion business with clients in the Civilian, Defense, and Intelligence Sectors of the U.S. Federal Government. Donna brings this expertise and experience to the board and assists in making recommendations to meet the hospital's business objectives.
Donna moved to Charleston from Washington DC following her retirement and currently lives on Daniel Island with her husband David. She fully values the quality services that the East Cooper Medical Center doctors, nurses and associates deliver to the community each and every day. Donna feels fortunate to have an opportunity to contribute to, this outstanding, high performing organization.
Dr. Brian Whirrett, MD is the Physician Advisor for East Cooper Medical Center. He has been a practicing Hospitalist since 2004. He is board certified in Family Medicine and holds a specialty certification in Sports Medicine. He attended Wake Forest University for Undergraduate training and then graduated from The University of South Carolina School of Medicine. His residency in Family Medicine was completed at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia, SC and then Fellowship Training in Sports Medicine with the University of Washington Huskies in Seattle, Washington. He continues to practice medicine as a Hospitalist at East Cooper Medical Center, is the Medical Director for the Hospitalist Group and serves in multiple leadership roles within the organization.

Patrick Beaver, RN, MSN, MBA, took on the role of Chief Nursing Officer at East Cooper in May 2017. Beaver comes to East Cooper from North Shore Medical Center in Miami, FL. Prior to joining North Shore Medical Center, Beaver served as the chief operating officer, chief nursing officer and vice-president of patient care services at East Liverpool City Hospital in Ohio. Beaver attended Fairmont State University and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in English and received his Master of Science in nursing degree from Florida Atlantic University. In 2010 he completed his Master of Business Administration in Healthcare from Waynesburg University. He is also a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the American Association of Critical Care Nurses.
Sarah E. Tuley, CPA, joined East Cooper Medical Center as CFO in January 2023. As CFO, Sarah oversees all financial operations of the facility. She comes to East Cooper Medical Center from Swedish Medical Center in Colorado where she served as Associate Chief Financial Officer and Chief Staffing Officer. Sarah has over 15 years of well-rounded experience in corporate accounting, finance, and audit with a concentration in Healthcare. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Middle Tennessee State University with a Major in Accounting and Minor in Business Administration. Soon after, she became a licensed Certified Public Accounting.
Sarah is an avid traveler, hiker and outdoor enthusiast. She has conquered the summits of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania and Mt. Chegem in Russia. Outside of hiking, Sarah is a classically trained opera singer and has performed with the Nashville Symphony and the Charleston Symphony.
Sarah supports local and global reaching community services including GIVE Volunteers, Missions for Africa, Compassion International, American Heart Association, and March of Dimes.
Thomas Hayden, FACHE joined East Cooper Medical Center as Chief Strategy Officer in November 2022. Thomas has more than a decade of hospital strategy and consulting experience, and most recently comes to East Cooper from Bozeman Health (Montana) where he was responsible for leading the health system's strategy and business development. Thomas earned a Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences from the University of Northern Colorado, and a Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration from A.T. Still University of Health Sciences. Thomas is a certified Project Management Professional and a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Tracy Hunter joined East Cooper Medical Center in January 2010 as their Chief Human Resources Officer. She has over 25 years of extensive background and experience in all aspects of Human Resources. She previously served as a Vice President of Human Resources in the banking industry, and prior to that, she worked as a Human Resources Generalist for Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus, Indiana. Tracy earned her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University and a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Indiana University. Additionally, she holds double professional certifications in SPHR and SHRM-SCP.
Tyler Sherrill joined East Cooper Medical Center as CEO in July 2023. As CEO, Sherrill is responsible for overseeing all strategic growth, hospital operations and finances, and executive planning. He previously served as the CEO of Tenet's South Carolina Physicians Operations where he played an integral role in geographic access expansion, physician recruitment, and operational development throughout the state. Prior to that, Sherrill spent 10 years with Community Health Systems, ending his time there as Vice President of Physician Practice Operations. He earned his Bachelor of Science from the University of Tennessee and his Master of Business Administration from King University in Knoxville, Tennessee.
