Bud Thomas

Mr. Thomas provides family law paralegal support in the areas of divorce, post-separation support, alimony, equitable distribution, child custody, and child support. Mr. Thomas interacts and communicates with clients through all phases of the legal process; managing discovery and substantive document review; compiling financial documents; researching documentary information relating to real estate and tangible property; maintaining charts and files related to same with regard to assets, debts, and equitable distribution; researching and preparing child support worksheets in accordance with North Carolina Child Support Guidelines; preparing and serving subpoenas, drafting discovery requests, and preparing motions and case related pleadings for filing with the court; preparing and supporting attorneys through depositions, witness and exhibit preparation, mediation, and trial. Mr. Thomas has attended various continuing legal education programs and maintains a high level of competence in handling family law matters. With 27 years of paralegal experience, prior to joining the Law Offices of J. Scott Smith, PLLC and to his focus in family law, Mr. Thomas focused his paralegal career in Washington, DC managing multiple complex litigation matters, and providing complex litigation support. Sam Moore

Sam Moore grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he graduated from Needham Broughton High School in 2008. He earned his Eagle Scout rank with Troop 236 in Raleigh on December 6, 2007. After graduating, he attended Nash Community College and worked part-time until he earned two Associate's degrees and transferred to UNCG. He completed his Bachelor's degree in Political Science in the spring of 2017 and accepted an offer to attend Liberty University School of Law later that summer. After graduating 20th in his class in 2020, Sam passed the North Carolina Bar Exam and began practicing law. Toni Harrison has been a Paralegal with our firm since 2019. She acquired an Associate's Degree in Applied Science in Human Services in 2008 and an Associate's Degree in Applied Science in Paralegal Technology in 2022. Toni became a North Carolina State Bar Certified Paralegal in 2022 as well. She has also received certificates in Crisis Counseling, Social Services, Substance Abuse Counseling, and Paralegal Technology-Legal Assistant. She has always worked helping the public because she finds it very rewarding. Toni assists our clients in criminal law as well as family law. She does a great deal of work
