Dr. Chris Thiagarajah

Dr. Chris Thiagarajah is a board certified oculofacial plastic surgeon. After growing up in New Jersey and attending New York University, Dr Thiagarajah attended medical school and residency in Washington D.C where he trained in the microsurgical techniques of ophthalmology. He then completed a fellowship in neuro-ophthalmology at the University of Cincinnati where he trained in orbital diseases. Following this, he completed an ASOPRS fellowship in oculofacial plastic surgery at Park Avenue Oculoplastics with Jerry Popham and Bob Kersten. It was there he mastered the techniques of blepharoplasty, eyelid procedures and ptosis repair, among others. As important, it was there he fell in love with Colorado. After practicing at Georgeotown University where he taught the ophthalmology residents in the techniques of oculofacial plastic surgery, he returned to Denver, Colorado to practice. Dr. Thiagarajah is a member of the American College of Surgeons, American Society of Oculoplastic Surgeons and Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. He has been voted a top doctor in US News and World Report and has been a Patient's Choice award recipient from 2009 to 2015. His area of interest is blepharoplasty and other facial procedures with particular attention to how they accent and complement the eyes.

Dr. Gregory Kouyoumdjian

Dr. Gregory Kouyoumdjian has undergone specialized fellowship training in all surgeries involving the anterior segment of the eye. This includes LASIK and all other forms of refractive surgery, cataract surgery with implants eliminating the need for glasses, as well as cornea transplantation and surface reconstructive procedures. He has performed over 12,000 cataract surgeries and over 9,000 LASIK procedures in his career and is a leader in his field along the Front Range. Dr. K (as we call him) is a native of Ogdensburg, New York and received his undergraduate degree in Biology and French at The Johns Hopkins University. He graduated from New York University School of Medicine with Honors and interned at Stony Brook Medical Center. Dr. Kouyoumdjian completed his Ophthalmology Residency at the University of Colorado Medical Center, and trained an additional year at CU Medical for a Fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery. He is Board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Several of Dr. Kouyoumdjian's articles have been published in prominent ophthalmic journals, and he has presented numerous papers at prominent national eye meetings.

Dr. Jeff Jones

Dr. Jeff Jones is an ophthalmologist at Visionaire Eye Consultants in Castle Rock, Colorado, and regularly treats: glaucoma, cataracts, dry eyes, diabetic retinopathy and other conditions affecting the eyes. He is passionate about all areas of ophthalmology and has a special interest in: cataract surgery, corneal crosslinking and medical retina treatments. Dr. Jones earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry from La Sierra University in Riverside, California, and later completed medical school at Loma Linda University School of Medicine in Loma Linda, California. He then completed an internship at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center as well as his ophthalmology residency at Loma Linda University. Dr. Jones relocated to Castle Rock for several reasons: He's happy to be closer to his family in the area, and he loves the Castle Rock community. As a Colorado resident, he enjoys having access to leisure activities such as snowboarding, mountain biking, and fly fishing.

Dr. Kim Burrell

Dr. Kim Burrell is a board-certified ophthalmologist. She came to Colorado for specialty training in refractive surgery. Once here, she couldn't leave our beautiful mountain state. Dr. Burrell provides a wide range of eye care services and surgery for the community. She is also active in providing lectures to optometrists and physicians in the area and teaches medical students who come to her office to learn more about ophthalmology. The philosophy of Dr. Burrell's practice is to provide quality, comprehensive eye care in a friendly environment that is geared toward educating patients. This allows her patients to be actively involved in their own eye care. Dr. Burrell and her husband enjoy everything Colorado has to offer, especially water and snow skiing, biking, hiking, and rock climbing. Kim's first love, however, remains horseback riding. Dr. Stephanie Muylaert

Dr. Stephanie Muylaert has completed years of training in eye medicine, particularly involving her specialty, glaucoma. She graduated from University of Texas Medical School at Houston, and completed her residency at State University of New York, Stony Brook Ophthalmology. She joins The DOC after practicing and teaching ophthalmology for over a decade in New York City at the prestigious New York Eye & Ear Infirmary of Mt. Sinai and Weill Cornell School of Medicine. She is board certified in ophthalmology with specialty fellowship training in glaucoma. She provides general ophthalmologic and glaucoma-specific exams and treatments, including surgical and in-office procedures.

Gary A. Jamell

Gary A. Jamell, M.D. has been practicing medicine since 1992. He completed medical school at the University Of Colorado School Of Medicine in 1991. He completed a year of Internal Medicine training at Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver before going on to specialize in Ophthalmology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Dr. Jamell is Board Certified in Ophthalmology. He has been practicing Ophthalmology since 1992 and has successfully treated thousands of patients. Dr. Jamell recently had LASIK surgery himself and has been thrilled with the marvelous results. Currently his private practice is at Colorado Eye Care, he is also a clinical instructor of Ophthalmology at the University of Colorado. Jerry Popham

Dr. Popham began the private practice of oculofacial plastic and reconstructive surgery in Denver after completing his fellowship training at Harvard Medical School in Boston. He is the founder of Park Avenue OculoPlastic Surgeons, PC and Park Avenue Surgery Center, LLC, a state-of-the-art, private surgery center for his patients' reconstructive and cosmetic surgical needs.

Richard E. Damiano

Dr. Richard Damiano is a renowned corneal and refractive surgeon. He has been a pioneer in advanced treatment technologies. Dr. Damiano has had a distinguished career and is considered a leader in the field of ophthalmology. He was the first physician in the state of Colorado to perform radial keratotomy and is considered one of the pioneers of the surgery in the United States. Dr. Damiano also developed the only surgical technique to correct hyperopia, or far-sightedness, that can occur following radial keratotomy, and has developed the only surgical technique that reliably corrects the hyperopia that may occur following radial keratotomy. This surgical procedure strengthens the peripheral cornea, stabilizes fluctuating vision and reduces far-sightedness and irregular astigmatism. This technique has been employed for over twenty years and the results were reported in the peer reviewed Journal of Refractive Surgery (Vol. 14:408-413, Jul/Aug, 1998). His interest in natural visual functioning both near and far without glasses has resulted in a patented reading enhancement device that effectively stops the loss of near vision with aging. Dr. Damiano is a board-certified ophthalmologist. He graduated from Duke University School of Medicine and completed his internship at Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco and his residency in Ophthalmology at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. Dr. Damiano served as an ophthalmologist in the U.S. Army for two years before completing a fellowship in corneal and external disease at The Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Damiano has served as a clinical instructor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. He has also published and presented numerous papers.
