Amira Trabelsi

Job Titles:

Amira heads Multiwave's operations in our R&D facility in Marseille, France since 2024. She joined Multiwave in 2022 as an MRI and usability engineer after several years of experience as a clinical researcher and research engineer for various renowned institutions in France. At Multiwave, she oversees all activities related to the development of our portable MRI scanner, including the implementation of our quality management system, and leads a team of dedicated researchers and engineers to develop and bring to market our portable MRI device. In her previous role she managed Multiwave's technical documentation and usability studies for the portable MRI system, including records for quality management system and design of gradient and magnets for the system. Prior to Multiwave Imaging, Amira worked as Research engineer at Institut Fresnel, a leading CNRS laboratory specialising in electromagnetic, metamaterial and imaging applications. Her work focused on RF shimming in Ultra-high field MRI and safety assessment of metallic implants in MRI acquisition. Amira has also worked as a Clinal Researcher in the Centre for Magnetic Resonance in Biology and Medicine, a co-funded CNRS and AMU research facility specialised in developing and applying preclinical and clinical MR methods. Her work focused on developing semi-supervised post-processing tools to optimise prognosis and diagnosis for healthy and pathological cases of central nervous, cardiovascular, and musculoskeletal systems. Amira obtained her Engineering Degree in Industrial Biology from the National Institute of Applied Science and Technology in Tunisia, in 2015 and her master's degree in Cognitive and Integrative Neurosciences from Aix-Marseille University, in 2017. She then completed her Animal experimentation training in 2019. Outside science, Amira enjoys travelling, video games and practices boxing and Aikido.

Aris Lanaridis

Aris joined Multiwave as AI researcher in 2017. Previously, he was at Piraeus Bank, where he worked as a back-end developer, applying big data technologies to financial transaction processing, developing constrained optimization algorithms for asset management, and working on subsystem integration using micro-services and messaging middleware. Prior to that, he worked with a leading cable network in Greece to develop software for automatic video classification, scene detection, content summarization, and news broadcast caption OCR, to be used for storing, tagging and retrieving videos from the network's archives. Aris has a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering and a PhD in Machine Learning from National Technical University of Athens. His work focused on applications of evolutionary algorithms to pattern recognition and multi-objective optimization problems. His current research interests include using deep learning techniques for medical imaging applications. Outside his interests in science, Aris is a professional classical guitarist and amateur piano player.

Barthelemy Debray

Barthelemy represents Ava Investors on the board of Multiwave since 2023. He is co-founder & CFO of investment company Ava Investors. Previously he was partner and head of equities at Geneva-based Silex and Senior Fund Manager for Global Equities at Lombard Odier Group.

Chloe Cabon

Job Titles:

Chloé joined Multiwave Imaging in 2021 to lead the mechanical and design product development. She oversees the evolution of our MRI devices from functional ergonomic protototype to scalable industrial product and supports our production and QMS activities. Chloé is an expert in product design and user experience design. She obtained her engineering degree in Mechanics and Industrial Design at UTC (University of Technology of Compiègne), in 2013, and an MSc in User eXperience Design, in 2014. Chloé is customer and industry oriented thanks to her multiple experiences in various industrial fields such as autonomous solar lighting, metallic packaging and industrial design for medtech and household appliances. In 2014, she joined L'Oréal Group as an Innovation Engineer, in Paris, to develop new products and technologies for worldwide cosmetic brands. She developed a strong expertise in thermoplastic injection molding and 3D printing, and she authored 7 patents. In 2020, she partnered on start-up project to develop a 3D-printed arm exoskeleton for patients suffering from muscular distrophy diseases. When she isn't working, Chloé loves hiking, snorkelling and backpacking around the world.

David Webster

David joined Multiwave's board in 2023. He is presently the Chief Commercial Officer of Nasdaq-listed Beyond Air. Previously, he served as CEO of medical imaging company Body Vision medical (lung vision). Prior to that he was hired by the founders of Neurologica as VP Sales (2005-2013), a portable CT imaging company which was sold to Samsung Electronics in 2013. He then integrated the team at Samsung Electronics as VP Sales & Chief Marketing Officer (2013-2018) and then Chief Operating Officer (2018-2022) of post-acquisition Samsung/Neurologics with $150m in P&L responsibility across digital radiography, portable CT and ultrasound. Prior to Neurologica he was VP of a US-based neurotrauma telemedicine marketplace.

Djamel Berrahou

Djamel joined Multiwave in 2017 to bring technologies from the numerical design to the prototype phase. Djamel works hand in hand with Multiwave's research team to incorporate manufacturing constraints in the technology design phase. Prior to Multiwave, Djamel worked as assistant research engineer at Institut Fresnel, a leading CNRS laboratory in Marseille specialising in electromagnetic and metamaterial applications, nanophotonics, signal processing and imaging applications. His work at Institut Fresnel focused on the development of a novel MRI antenna for use in ultra high field MRIs. Djamel earned a degree in Electronics for Telecommunications from the Institute of Technology of Aix Marseille University (IUT) in 2016 as well as degree of superior technician in electronics in Marseille in 2013. When he is not building our next ground-breaking technology, Djamel enjoys basketball, beach volleyball, diving and hiking.

Donia HOUAS

Donia joined the Multiwave Technologies Group in 2018 as project manager. She manages all administrative, billing and HR tasks for all subsidiaries of the Group but she's really more than that. Her meticulousness, kindness and efficiency make of Donia a very valuable member of Multiwave. Donia earned a master's degree in Literature from University of Provence.

Dr. Konstantinos Vakalopoulos

Dr. Konstantinos Vakalopoulos MD PhD, is a hand & wrist surgeon based in Geneva, Switzerland and a partner at the Hand Clinic-Geneva. He has extensive research experience in the fields of experimental surgery and biomechanics, and is actively involved in the development of minimally invasive surgery and regenerative medicine for the hand and wrist.

Fouad Fezari

Fouad joined the Multiwave RF lab in 2017 to help build our innovative technologies. Prior to Multiwave, Fouad was a sergeant in the French Air force where he specialized in telecommunication networks. He earned a technician diploma in electronics in 2013. He works alongside our medical device research team to build our medical imaging devices. Fouad enjoys photography, diving and trekking.

George Chatoutsidis

Gerard Friedlander

Gerard Friedlander is the medical director at the American Hospital of Paris. He is the head of department of physiology at Georges-Pompidou hospital and head of department of physiology at Necker-Enfants Malades. He is also Director of Inserm "growth and signalling" research center at Necker, Paris. Lately he was appointed Délégué Général at the Fondation Université of Paris. He was previously the Dean of Paris Descartes University School of Medicine

Hugo Amat

Job Titles:

Hugo is working at Multiwave in the context of a partnership with Institut Fresnel, a joint lab of France's National Research Agency and Aix-Marseille University. His work focuses on the development of radiofrequency antennas for MRI and the study of innovative metasurfaces. Hugo first joined the team during his master's degree thesis in 2021, after three years of training at Ecole Centrale Marseille. He earned his engineering degree from this institution, as well as a master's in physics for following the Europhotonics program. He is presently working toward the completion of his PhD in physics. Outside of work Hugo enjoys playing music and is part of a brass band.

Jana El Zaher

Jana joined Multiwave in 2024 as part of an industrial Chair of medical imaging with France's National Research Agency and Aix-Marseille University. At Multiwave, she is developing scanner technologies for neurological and musco-squeletal applications. In parallel, she is pursuing her PhD in Physics with the Center of Medical and Biological Magnetic Resonance (CRMBM) and institut Fresnel to develop MRI acquisition strategies and data reconstruction. Prior to Multiwave, Jana earned a master's degree in complex systems engineering from Ecole Centrale Marseille in 2024 within a double diploma program with her university in Lebanon where she completed a biomedical engineering degree. In her years of study, she developed a passion for physics in the medical imaging field. She did internships in France related mainly to applications of optics in the biological field at the European Center for Medical Imaging (Cerimed) and the Adhesion and Inflammation lab (LAI), and in the semiconductors inspection field at Unity Semiconductors. When she's off work, Jana enjoys painting, reading and hiking.

Jonathan Bartoli

Jonathan joined Multiwave Technologies in 2020 to contribute to the growth of Multiwave Technologies as head of grant financing. He began his career at Cap Digital, the biggest business cluster in Europe (certified as a Cluster of Excellence by the European Commission), supporting start-ups in European projects. After two years of experience in a publishing house, he joined the European Contracts Department team of PROTISVALOR, a subsidiary of the Aix-Marseille University specialized in the preparation and management of European H2020 research projects. At Protisvalor, he led the preparation of more than a hundred research projects and has successfully helped the university to raise more than 17 million in grants. He has been National Contact Point for Information and Communication Technologies from 2015 to 2020. Jonathan graduated from Sciences Po Paris in Political Science (master's degree) and earned his bachelor's degree at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada.

Kseniia Lezhennikova

Ksenia joined Multiwave in 2021 following a research traineeship at the Aalto University department of electronics and nano-engineering in Finland and a short research contract at Institut Fresnel, France, working on medical imaging applications. Ksenia started her PhD at Institut Fresnel in 2021 while working full time as a junior RF engineer at Multiwave's central R&D facility. Her work focuses on hyperbolic metamaterials for medical imaging applications. Ksenia earned her master's degree in Physics and Engineering from ITMO University (Russian Federation). Prior to that she completed her bachelor's at the Institute of Physics of St Petersburg Polytechnic University.

Lei Zhang

Job Titles:
  • Head of Computational Physics
Lei Zhang joined Multiwave in 2017 from the CNRS Laboratory of Mechanics and Acoustics (LMA) and Ecole Centrale Marseille where he completed his PhD in computational solid mechanics. Lei now manages our computational physics team. His doctoral dissertation focused on the implementation of cutting edge numerical algorithms for solving partial differential equations for elastomer modelling (hyperelastic, thermomechanical, dissipative approaches) at large strain. Prior to his PhD, Lei earned a Master's degree in computer science and technology at Beihang University (BUAA), Beijing, China. Lei's current research interests lie in the development of novel numerical methods and modelling of complex phenomena in domains of mechanics and electromagnetics. Lei is also interested in parallelization of numerical methods using Cloud-based computing and GPU acceleration. Aside from the science, Lei enjoys snowboarding, hiking and basketball.

Marc Dubois

Marc led research and development activities for Multiwave since 2020. As of early 2024, Marc will assume the role of associate professor of Physics at Aix-Marseille University and will take on a research partner role at Multiwave in the context of the Multiwave-Amidex Chair of medical imaging which the Company is co-sponsoring with Amidex Foundation of Aix-Marseille University for the period 2024-2027. Marc completed his PhD at Institut Langevin in Paris at Université Paris Diderot-Paris VII. He is the author of several patents on MRI and has published in a plethora of peer-reviewed journals in his field. Marc was trained in world leading laboratories on wave control and metamaterials including at University of California, Berkeley where he spent 2 years as a post-doctoral researcher. Prior to Multiwave, Marc returned to Europe to join the renowned Institut Fresnel, a joint lab of the French National Research Agency laboratory (CNRS) and Aix-Marseille University, and later the Center of Magnetic Resonance in Biology and Medicine (CRMBM) where he combined his knowledge of metamaterials with his deep interest in magnetic resonance imaging.

Michael Limoli

Michael joined Multiwave in 2025 as Vice President of Engineering, based in Massachusetts, USA. Prior to Multiwave, he was VP Engineering at Samsung Neurologica from 2012 to 2023. While at Samsung Neurologica, Michael was an integral part of the executive team, leading the vision, design and development of numerous industry-leading CT imaging scanners. Devices like BodyTom, SmartMSU and OmniTom for mobile CT Stroke Units have differentiated the company and positively impacted P&L performance and market share. From 2004 to 2012, Michael was with Neurologica. A founding member, he held numerous roles including Principal Engineer, Clinical Affairs Manager and Product Manager. By leading the development of CereTom, the world's first full-body mobile CT scanner, he was central in securing startup funding, making a name for the company in the competitive medical device space and gaining the attention of Samsung, resulting in a profitable acquisition. Additionally during this time, Michael was charged with launching and managing the Clinical Affairs department. Building the organization from scratch, he designed processes, outlined policies, recruited team members and authored training materials as the first employee in the company to travel to client sites and work hand-in-hand with physicians and other healthcare professionals across the global to provide on-site training and patient care. Prior to Neurologica, Michael was a Senior Software Engineer with Analogic. Working with industry frontrunners such as Phillips Medical Systems, Siemens and the TSA on the development of mission-critical technologies, he quickly gained valuable insights into the workings of big corporations while collaborating with key stakeholders of these Fortune 500 companies to resolve problems and streamline product functionality. Michael has an MS in Organizational Leadership from Norwich University and a BS in Computer Science from Salem State University. He's a member of the Medical Imaging & Technology Alliance (MITA).

Panos Antonakakis

Panos is a tech entrepreneur with a background in economics and finance. Since he co-founded Multiwave Technologies AG in 2015, he has led efforts to raise more than $21 million in dilutive and non-dilutive capital to finance the company's innovation pipeline. A consensus builder by nature, he has leveraged his chairmanship to drive Multiwave's pivot from a metamaterial software company to a cutting-edge medical imaging innovator in the field of portable magnetic resonance imaging. He has been instrumental in securing partnerships with a series of academic institutions across Europe and the US, leading MRI original equipment manufacturers, UN agencies as well as managing in-bound and out-bound licensing deals with business partners. Panos co-founded his first venture in the field of finance at the age of 22. At the age of 24, he started a 9-year journey as an economist at the World Trade Organization (WTO) where he focused on enhancing the standards of living of least-developed countries through trade-related assistance programs in partnership with other international institutions such as the World Bank, IMF, UNDP, among others. While at the WTO, Panos was also a director at the WTO Pension Fund. He then worked for a leading FMCG company in London where he established the company's international trade practice from 2010-2014 and was also investment director of the company's pension fund ($3 billion assets under management). Since 2015, Panos has leveraged his network in tech and venture capital to gather momentum in support of cutting-edge science, engages in training to help young deep-tech entrepreneurs and is opportunistically an angel investor. Panos speaks French, English and Greek and is proficient in Spanish. He is a Greek, Canadian and Swiss national. He earned his BA and MA in Economics at McGill University and Concordia University, respectively. Panos played Varsity Tennis and Soccer at McGill in consecutive years between 1996 and 2000 and was vice-president of McGill's entrepreneur's club. In 2025, Panos will be the captain of the Swiss 45+ tennis team at the ITF World Tennis Masters Championships

Richard V. Craster

Sandra Martin

Sandra MARTIN joined Multiwave in 2022 as a junior engineer and is currently completing her PhD thesis with CRMBM and Institut Fresnel, a joint lab of the French National Research Agency and Aix-Marseille University in France. Her research interests include signal processing, machine learning and the development of deep learning tools. In her research, Sandra develops deep learning segmentation methods to access different biomarkers, as well as deep learning methods to accelerate MRI acquisitions for neuromuscular pathologies. Prior to Multiwave, Sandra earned her engineering degree in Telecom Physique Strasbourg, specializing in image processing and robotics for health. Outside of science, she enjoys swimming, running, volleyball and reading.

Stefan Enoch

Stefan ENOCH is a member of the European Academy of Sciences. He is a CNRS research director and Vice-President for Science and Technology at Aix-Marseille University. Stefan is director of the Marseille Imaging Institute.

Tangi Roussel

Tangi joined Multiwave Technologies in 2024 as an MRI physicist within the MRI4All industrial Chair with France's National Research Agency (CNRS) and Aix-Marseille University. He is in charge of the development of imaging sequences dedicated to low-field MRI. Tangi completed his PhD in electronics and signal processing at the University of Lyon I in 2012 with a focus on in vivo multi-dimensional MR spectroscopic techniques. His postdoctoral research focused on the development of novel MR imaging and spectroscopic sequences on preclinical and clinical MRI systems with magnetic fields ranging from 4.7 T to 21.1 T. He developed various MR acquisition methods for ultrafast, metabolic and functional imaging applications. His latest research projects at the CRMBM-CEMEREM CNRS lab (imaging department at Marseille's hospital) focused on phosphorus 3D brain imaging at 7T for epilepsy diagnosis. After work, Tangi enjoys analog photography, brewing beer and fixing stuff.

Tarek Hijal

Timothy Dyer

Job Titles:

Timothy joined Multiwave's board in 2020. He is the founder and CEO of Geneva-based biotech company Addex Therapeutics which is listed on the Swiss stock exchange and the Nasdaq. Mr. Dyer has played a pivotal role in building the Addex Group, raising significant capital, including Addex IPO and negotiating licensing agreements with pharmaceutical industry partners. Prior to founding Addex, he spent 10 years with Price Waterhouse, or PW & PricewaterhouseCoopers, or PwC in the UK and Switzerland as part of the audit and business advisory group. At PwC in Switzerland, Mr Dyer's responsibilities included managing the service delivery to a diverse portfolio of clients including high growth start‑up companies, international financial institutions and venture capital and investment companies. Mr. Dyer has extensive experience in finance, corporate development, business operations and the building of start‑up companies. He is a UK Chartered Accountant and holds a BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry and Pharmacology from the University of Southampton, UK.

Tryfon Antonakakis

Tryfon is a scientist and ex-professional athlete turned serial entrepreneur with a background in engineering and applied mathematics. From metamaterials to multi-physics software to bioengineering, Tryfon leads Multiwave Technologies' interdisciplinary research efforts. He leverages an ability to connect the dots between different scientific fields to build Multiwave's portable MRI intellectual property portfolio. His scientific expertise enables him to bring answers to some of the big challenges in the field of healthcare. Tryfon started his career as a professional skier competing at world championships and world cup mogul competitions. He stopped competing in 2010 to follow his passion for science. He joined the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) as a research associate to design particle beam dumps for the Large Hadron Collider. While at CERN, he completed a PhD in applied mathematics at Imperial College London and went on to work at that university as a post-doctorate research associate for a year. At the same time, he was tempted by algorithmic finance and joined hedge fund 80 capital from 2013-2014. Like all professional athletes, he is driven by perfection and applies that discipline across Multiwave's scientific portfolio. Prior to taking a turn for applied mathematics in the field of metamaterials, Tryfon earned a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from McGill University and a master's degree in fluid mechanics from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL). He was awarded the Yael Dowker Centenary Prize for the best PhD thesis in the Department of Mathematics of Imperial College London a few years later. Apart from setting himself apart as the first Greek professional mogul skier, Tryfon competed for the McGill Track & Field Varsity Team from 2001-2002. In his spare time, Tryfon enjoys track and field, tennis and basketball.

Wico Breimer

Wico joined Multiwave Technologies from Tesla Dynamic Coils, where he worked as an RF engineer since 2019. At Tesla Dynamic Coils, Mr Breimer specialized in the development of RF technology for high-field MR systems and hybrid MR systems. He was also involved in improving compliance with ICE and ISO standards as well as with the European medical device regulation. While at Tesla DC, he was a project leader on multiple projects. Wico joined Multiwave to work on RF technology for ultra-low field MRI, while adhering to the company's quality management system and supporting the Company's actions toward regulatory approval. Following a Bachelors degree in Physics at Leiden University in the Netherlands, Wico completed his Master's degree in Physics in 2019 at Leiden, under the stewardship of Professor Andrew Webb. His work then focused on the feasibility of a low-field MRI system.
