Adetoun Akin-Balogun

Mrs. Akin-Balogun obtained a first degree in Law (LL. B) from the University of Lagos, Lagos State, Nigeria in 1980 and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1981. She commenced her professional career in 1982 with the Nigerian Industrial Bank (NIDB) and later the Nigerian Enterprises Promotion Board till 1985 after which she entered private legal practice. Her experience spans development banking and finance, loans and syndicated financing, project financing, company law and corporate governance, property law and real estate, company secretarial duties amongst others. Mrs. Balogun is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association.

Oladapo O. Oyewumi

Mr. Dapo Oyewumi obtained an undergraduate degree in Law (LL. B) from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria in 1980 and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1981. In addition to a Postgraduate Diploma in Maritime Law, Mr. Oyewumi holds a Masters Degree (MSc.) in Finance and Financial Law from University of London. He is also an Internationally Certified Mediator being a Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) London Certified Mediator. Mr. Oyewumi commenced his professional career in the banking industry in January 1982 and served in the legal departments of notable banking institutions such as Chase Merchant Bank, Nigerian-American Merchant Bank and First City Merchant Bank, now First Monument Bank rising to the position of Legal Adviser/Company Secretary and Head of Corporate Services. He has considerable experience in financial, banking, commercial and corporate law, and practice. In his banking career he held positions within and outside the legal function given his versatility and proven capabilities. Private Law Practice experience for Mr. Oyewumi dates back prior to 1994 as a consultant to the Law Firm Koku and Oyewumi which he later joined in 1994 as a Partner. Since 1995, he has been the Principal Partner of Oyewumi & Oyewumi now Partners CLB. A strong advocate of self-development and continuing education, Mr. Oyewumi has been engaged in training of professionals in legal, finance, banking, corporate, management and related disciplines and in furtherance of that interest founded and serves as a member of the Board of Centre for Law and Business which offers amongst other intellectual products, tutorial and teaching support for law, business, finance, management and social science degrees of University of London at both undergraduate and graduate levels and internationally recognised professional qualifications. A Certified Mediator, Mr. Oyewumi has keen interest and experience in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and is a Director of CLB Dispute Management Limited which offers ADR services. He is also a Member of the Panel of Neutrals/Mediators of the Lagos Multidoor Court House. His professional memberships include The Nigerian Bar Association, Chartered Institute of Taxation, Institute of International Affairs, Nigerian Institute of Management and The Institute of Directors as a Fellow. He is an advocate of Corporate Governance. He is also a member of the Legal Committee of the National Council for Privatisation. Mr. Oyewumi's professional experience is vast and varied spanning both in-house corporate and private legal practice. He leads the Faculty of Law at Centre for Law and Business, an affiliate of the Firm.
