Amy Lannin leads the University of Missouri's Campus Writing Program, a nationally recognized initiative which provides support for more than 400 writing intensive courses at MU. The program also offers faculty development opportunities in order to enhance student learning. Lannin is also a faculty member in the Department of Learning, Teaching and Curriculum. She has collaborated with the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and the Missouri Department of Higher Education on various projects and initiatives as well as NSF DRK-12 and NIH-SEPA grants related to writing and literacy education.

Brian Houston

Brian Houston is the associate provost for academic programs at the University of Missouri. In this role, he oversees policies and processes related to academic programs, including academic program reviews, and new degree program proposals. He is the Provost's Office contact for College/Unit level accreditation activities. He supervises the Teaching for Learning Center, the Campus Writing Program, and the Director of Educational Assessment. Finally, he supports department chairs across campus. Brian Houston, PhD, is professor in the department of communication. He is also director for the Disaster and Community Crisis Center (DCC). Prior to associate provost for academic programs, he was chair of the Department of Public Health in the College of Health Sciences (2023-2024) and the Department of Communication in the College of Arts and Science (2017-2023), and interim chair of the Department of Sociology in the College of Arts and Science (2020-2022). He participated in the SEC Academic Leadership Development Program in 2022-2023. Houston's research focuses on communication at all phases of disasters and on the public and mental health effects and political consequences of community crises. Recent and current research projects have examined the impact of media coverage of terrorism on children and adults, the role of new media during disasters, and the capacity for using information communication technologies to increase community resilience. These projects are located at the intersections of the literatures addressing disasters, communication, media, public health, mental health, and political socialization. Houston's work has been supported by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), National Institute for Nursing Research (NINR), and U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

David has more than 25 years of experience in scholarly, commercial, and association book publishing. He has served as the production manager at Iowa State University Press, as a senior publisher at Blackwell, as a senior acquisitions editor at Thomson Learning and Elsevier, and as the director of product and project management for the development of training manuals at the American Heart Association. David became director of the University of Missouri Press in the last months of 2013.

Jeni Hart

Jeni Hart is the Dean of the Graduate School and Vice Provost of Graduate Studies at the University of Missouri. She is also a professor of higher education in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis (ELPA). Prior to her current position, she served as the Associate Vice Chancellor of Graduate Studies, the Assistant Vice Provost for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, and the department chair for ELPA at MU. Jeni has worked at MU since 2003. She completed her BS in Foreign Service at Georgetown University (1989), her MEd in Higher Education and Student Affairs Administration at University of Vermont (1993), and her PhD in Higher Education Administration at the University of Arizona (2002). She worked for 9 years as a student affairs educator at a number of colleges and universities, and one year as a faculty member at Southeast Missouri State University prior to joining the faculty at the University of Missouri.

Katie Wilkinson

Wilkinson previously led data management at MU Health Care through her role as Sr. Director of Information Management and Population Health for the Tiger Institute for Health Innovation, the unique public-private partnership between Cerner Corporation and MU. Wilkinson also served as the chief research information officer for the School of Medicine for two years before transitioning earlier this year to help develop data strategy and execution efforts at MU. Wilkinson has a doctorate in biomedical informatics, a master's degree in political science and bachelor's degrees in political science and math.

Kenneth D. Dean

Dean's career at MU is distinguished both for his excellence in teaching as well as for his judicious administrative leadership, especially in times of transition for the School of Law and for the university. In addition to almost 40 years as a member of the Law faculty, Dean's leadership has included terms of service as director of continuing legal education, associate dean, acting dean, and interim dean at the School of Law. The university has called upon him as well, for leadership roles including interim associate provost, deputy provost, senior associate provost and interim provost. In these crucial roles, Dean has provided wise and steady guidance. Known for his knowledge of the university's Collected Rules and Regulations, Dean is widely recognized by his peers for his commitment to fairness, transparency, and principles of shared governance. The author of several legal publications, Dean has served as reporter/member on several key committees for The Missouri Bar from the early 1980's to present day; served in leadership roles in national organizations; and since 1980 served as Secretary/Treasurer, University of Missouri Law School Foundation.

Mary Stegmaier

Mary Stegmaier, Ph.D., is the Vice Provost for International Programs at the University of Missouri. In this role, she directs the International Center, which serves all international students and scholars, assures compliance with related federal regulations, manages university study abroad programs and fosters university international initiatives. Dr. Stegmaier is a professor in the Truman School of Government and Public Affairs. As a comparative politics scholar, she has spent extensive time conducting research in Central and Eastern Europe. Her research on international elections and voting behavior has been published in academic journals, the Washington Post, and the Brookings Institution blog. She has also served as an international election observer with the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe in Albania, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Macedonia and Uzbekistan.

Matthew Martens

Matthew Martens began as interim provost and executive vice chancellor for academic affairs Feb. 9, 2024, and was appointed provost and executive vice chancellor for academic affairs on June 1, 2024. Dr. Martens previously served as senior vice provost from 2021-2024 and was associate provost for academic programs from 2016-2021. During his time in the Provost's Office, he has been instrumental in facilitating MizzouForward, which has resulted in recruiting more than 60 premier scientists and scholars to our campus. During the pandemic, he led the university's Academic Operations Team as it guided the university's academic response. Dr. Martens also redesigned the academic program assessment process to be more data-driven and aligned with university accreditation requirements. He led the initial phases of MU's Higher Learning Commission accreditation activities in preparation for the university's next comprehensive evaluation in 2025. In his role as senior vice provost, he managed faculty affairs, including faculty recruitment, hiring, salary and workload adjustment, and the faculty promotion and tenure process. He supervised several units within the Office of the Provost, including the Vice Provost for International Programs, the Vice Provost for Libraries and University Librarian, and the Director of the MU Press. He was also the office liaison to the Vice Chancellor for Operations, Vice Chancellor for Research, Vice Chancellor for IDE, and Vice Chancellor for Finance.

Shruti Rana is the assistant provost for Strategic Faculty Initiatives and professor of law at the University of Missouri School of Law. In her role in the Provost's office, Rana supports faculty development, success, and inclusion by providing expertise, research, and resources for faculty education and development, and developing strategic initiatives for faculty across campus. Prior to joining Mizzou, she served as senior assistant dean for curricular and undergraduate affairs and diversity officer at the Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies, Indiana University Bloomington, where she was also a professor and director of the International Law & Institutions Program. At Indiana University, Rana developed and strengthened curricular, experiential and global learning opportunities and partnerships, and worked on school and campus initiatives to enhance student success and retention as well as equity and inclusion for faculty and students. Rana is also a legal scholar who has published widely in law journals and other media in the areas of international law, global governance and equality, and has been a primary investigator on several major grants including most recently a multinational collaboration under an Australian Discovery Project grant. Rana has a broad range of leadership and other experience in academia, legal practice and community organizations. She was a professor at the University of Maryland Law School, where she co-developed the school's international law clinic, and a visiting professor at the UC Berkeley School of Law. She has also served as Of Counsel at Brooks Pierce LLP, where she helped grow the firm's international law practice, and as a Social Affairs Officer at the United Nations, where she analyzed international and domestic treaty obligations. Rana's other legal experience includes serving as a judicial law clerk for the Hon. James R. Browning at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and practicing in the areas of international, corporate and regulatory law at Williams & Connolly LLP in Washington, DC and Quinn Emanuel LLP in San Francisco. She obtained her JD from Columbia Law School, MSc from the London School of Economics, and BA from the University of California, Berkeley. Rana has also served on a number of professional and community boards and actively volunteers in her local communities.
