I joined as Competition Secretary in 2022. As well as this role, you'll also find me poolside as a volunteer, and sometimes announcing at Sharks hosted galas. Both my children swim at the club and it's great to be part of the Sharks committee team. When I'm not at the pool, I enjoy walks with the family and dog.

Jo Cain

Job Titles:
  • Club Secretary
  • Member of the Committee
I have recently been appointed as Club Secretary having taken a keen interest in the club over the past year. I manage the administrative aspects of the club and provide support to the Committee. Both of my children swim with Sharks and thoroughly enjoy their time at both the pool and the galas. Their swimming confidence has grown significantly since joining and it is really lovely to see them enjoying such an active & healthy hobby.

Joseph Schenk

Job Titles:
  • Head Coach ( Level 2 )
I first started swimming competitively aged 11 at St. Austell Sharks. I really enjoyed swimming competitively and in 2010 I moved over to Newquay Cormorants. With lots of hard work, in 2013 I was selected onto the GBR Para-swimming world class podium potential programme. In 2014 I was selected to represent GBR at both the IDM Berlin international meet and National Paralympic day 2014 dual in the pool event; GBR vs Europe. My highest world ranking I achieved in Para-swimming was 14th in the world for the 100m breaststroke and 200m IM in 2013. In that same year (2013), I set British Para-swimming records in the 4×100 Freestyle and 4×100 IM relays. I have won medals at national level in breaststroke, freestyle and IM. In 2015 I stopped competing at both international and national level in 2015 to explore other opportunities in life. I did continue to train and compete at a local level till 2017. In 2017 I started to volunteer coach at Newquay Cormorants and did this up to August 2018. In September 2018 I joined St. Austell Sharks as a volunteer coach and in September 2019 I was appointed as the Assistant coach for St. Austell sharks.

Juliette Smith

Job Titles:
  • Membership Secretary
  • Member of the Committee
As Membership Secretary, I'm the first point of contact when anyone is interested in joining Sharks. I love signing up new members, watching swimmers grow in confidence, and letting parents and carers know when their children are ready to move to the next squad. Swimmers are always beaming when they find out. My son has swum with Sharks for many years and can now easily beat me in any race! Outside of Sharks and work, I love dance and step classes, and the beach is my favourite place to be!

I have the privilege of being the Club Chair. The committee and I are passionate about making the club a fun and friendly environment for all our swimmers and helping them reach their own personal goals and aspirations. I do a bit of sea swimming myself but my daughters (who are Sharks swimmers) tell me my technique is terrible!!

Paul Trudgeon

Job Titles:
  • Member of the Committee
  • Welfare Officer
I joined the committee as Welfare Officer in July 2023. Both my daughters are keen Sharks swimmers and it's great to put something back into a fantastic club that has given them such great times in the pool so far. When I'm not at the swimming pool or being ‘Dad's taxi', I try to do a bit of running on the coast to keep active. I also enjoy family beach walks with our dog, Jax.

Tash has been trained to deal with welfare concerns and this is your first point of contact.
