My journey began as a registered dietitian and nutritionist at the Cleveland VA hospital. I found that I did not have the scope of practice to make as big an impact in a hospital setting as I would have hoped for when I first chose to become a dietitian. Many health care professionals have roles that overlap with dietitians, and I found myself lacking the ability to truly make an impact…so I chose to go a different direction... After leaving clinical nutrition, I went into medical sales. While I enjoyed how lucrative the medical sales industry was, there was still something missing. I decided I no longer wanted to be another sale representative who pushed things patients didn't need just to meet my sales goals... In 2016, I became a Certified Lactation Education Counselor through UCSD and found how much I missed doing 1:1 patient counseling and integrating holistic care into my practice. Although I loved working with moms and babies, it wasn't my passion. It was hard for me to relate..
