Ashley Fleming - President

Ashley came to Turner Tanks in 2008. He is holds a Bachelors Degree from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and Masters of Business Administration from East Carolina University. Ashley has implemented cloud based manufacturing, expanded production facilities, and broadened market share in the Northeast and Mid-West. He enjoys working on his never-ending smoker build, riding tractors and boating.

Duffy Smithwick Fleming

Gary Smithwick

Job Titles:

Gary is the son-in-law of Turner founder, Sumpter Turner. A Jacksonville, NC native and graduate of Atlantic Christian College (Barton College). He came to TEC in 1966 while engaged to Mr. Turner's middle daughter, Carol. It is hard to compress Gary's 50+ year career at TEC to a few sentences. Some highlights include but not limited to; developing and fostering countless Petroleum Equipment Industry relationships, venturing into new territories up and down the East Coast, developing a prosperous marketing strategy for Turner Greenhouses to backyard enthusiasts all over the country and providing North Carolina schools with instructional greenhouses. Gary has guided Tuner through many decades of prosperity, economic challenge, and even natural disaster, always with unwavering integrity.

John Langston

John joined Turner in 2019 with an established relationship the Smithwicks and Flemings prior to joining the team. He is the former partner of Best & Langston, (current division of RMI), a wholesaler of hearth, grill, propane gas equipment. John's 30+ year sales and management journey has taken him all over the country and abroad. John and his wife Paige, have three children ranging in ages 18-25 and two golden retrievers.

Nancy Lilly

Nancy wears many hats at Turner! As well as possessing over 25 years of tank manufacturing experience, she is responsible for Human Resources, Accounting and Purchasing. Nancy and her husband Mark, have two children and seven grandchildren. She makes the best grits in the South!

Sumpter Turner

Job Titles:
  • Turner Founder
Sumpter Turner came from a long line of native New Orleanian Sumpters, and he was the third Sumpter Turner dating back to 1802 in the Crescent City. After graduating from Columbia University, he accepted a sales position with a collegiate jewelry company and moved to Philadelphia. Mr. Turner lost his job after the 1929 stock market crash. After a series of temporary jobs, he seized a sales opportunity with William M Wilson's & Sons, a Philadelphia-based petroleum marketing equipment company. William M Wilson's and Sons also manufactured carbon steel tanks and developed the Gasboy® brand.
