Derek Bignell

Derek started his journey in broking back in 2006 when he teamed up with his business partner and wife Pauline at Aussie Home Loans to form a business that has stood the test of time, including surviving the Global Financial Crisis. In 2008 Pauline and Derek decided to open their own franchise away from Aussie, and The Mortgage Gallery Mornington Peninsula was established. In 2010 they decided to leave franchising behind and the doors to We Know Loans were opened. Derek has lived on the Peninsula for 50 years and is certainly part of the community. Derek has a long association with the Somerville Cricket Club and as a player he has played over 350 senior games in his 32 years at the club. He is a life member and has served on both the general and executive committees including vice president and club secretary. We Know Loans are also proud sponsors of both the senior and junior Somerville Cricket clubs. Derek is also a past secretary and vice president of the Somerville Tennis Club. A passionate Hawthorn supporter and member Derek has been lucky to watch his club win 12 of their 13 premierships. Derek holds a Diploma in Banking and Finance, is a member of the Mortgage and Finance Association of Australia (MFAA) and Australia Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA). Derek is a mortgage specialist who really enjoys working closely with first home buyers to achieve their dreams.

Ian Lane

Ian joined our team at We Know Loans in 2021 and has taken on the role as our vehicle finance specialist. He particularly enjoys working with younger people buying their first cars and enjoys making the loan process as stress free as possible for his clients. From finding the loan that best suits your needs, gathering documents, submitting your application and dealing with lenders, Ian works hard to make your car finance experience as seamless as possible. Ian's time during the week is flexible and he is available during the evenings so he can fit in with your work, kids an life schedule. Ian and his family moved onto the Mornington Peninsula in 1997 and, after a long career in the Victorian Emergency Services, decided upon a sea change into the field of financing and holds a Certificate IV in Finance and Mortgage Broking. He is also a member of the Mortgage and Finance Association of Australia (MFAA) In his spare time, Ian enjoys woodworking, Karate practice and trying to teach his English Springer Spaniel not to chase their three cats.

Jamie Bennett

Jamie joined We Know Loans at the end of 2023 to begin his journey into mortgage broking. Having relocated to the Mornington Peninsula from England with his wife in November 2023, Jamie was keen for a new challenge after over 10 years in accountancy. In his spare time, Jamie enjoys playing as much golf as possible and staying up into the early hours of the morning to watch his London-based football team, West Ham United. Jamie has a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Economics, and since joining We Know Loans has obtained his Certificate IV in Finance and Mortgage Broking, and has become a member of both the Finance Brokers Association of Australia (FBAA) and the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA).

Leanne Christie

Leanne joined the We Know Loans team in 2020 and provides customer service support to the team and to our clients. Following a rewarding career in the early childhood sector, both as an educator and service director Leanne decided to change careers and pursue her interest in administration. Relocating from Melbourne to the Peninsula in 2013, Leanne and her family love having more space to move around and explore, living a more relaxed life and being close to extended family. Leanne enjoys volunteering her time at her children's primary school, providing assistance in the classroom and as a Parents & Friends committee member.

Pauline Bignell

Pauline started her mortgage broking journey at Aussie Home Loans in 2004. Her business partner and husband Derek joined her there in 2006 and they felt the time was right to open their own business in 2008. After a few years as franchise owners with The Mortgage Gallery, We Know Loans was established in 2010. Pauline moved to the Mornington Peninsula as a child and attended primary school and secondary school locally. After working in the adult education sector for many years Pauline had a complete career change to a role she believes combines her strengths of problem solving, customer service and communication. Pauline has been active as a volunteer for many years, currently assisting "Share the Dignity" as a "Collections Queen" in the region and a board member for "I Matter Foundation". She has previously volunteered at a local charity store and would love to do more when she has time!
