ZAMSEED

Zamseed was founded in 1974 with the objective of supplying improved certified seed cultivars to the Zambian farming community. The Zambian Government was the major shareholder with 37.5% shares SAREC owning 27.5% shares (This was a Swedish development fund) and SVALOF (a Swedish Co- Operative seed company) owning 25% shares ZCF (the Zambian Co-Operative federation.) and Commercial Farmers bureau each owning 5%. Zambia Seed Company became operational in 1980. In 1986 Zambia Seed Company bought a 1200ha research farm 10km from Lusaka city center... Zambia Seed Company Limited (Zamseed) has been servicing the requirements of farmers in the sub-Sahara region since 1980. We focus on products that will enhance the profitability of the small-scale farmer and ensure food security for the household.
