Alice graduated from Hartpury College in 2010 with a Bsc (hons) in Veterinary nursing science. She spent her initial years in Bristol working in referrals as a feline dedicated nurse. During this time she gained her "advanced certificate in feline friendly nursing" achieving a distinction. Following a career break to travel, she has since moved back to her home village of Umberleigh and joined the team here at Market Vets in April 2015. Her hard work and dedication has paid off, with a promotion to Deputy Head Nurse across both branches whilst heading up the nursing team on a day-to-day basis in Barnstaple.

Amy Bolton RVN

Amy is one of our Registered Veterinary Nurses mainly based at our South Molton branch. She joined the team in February 2018, having qualified in December 2017 at Bridgewater College. She has a keen interest in laboratory diagnostics at work. She has recently become the clinical coach for our Student Veterinary Nurse, helping her through her training. Amy lives locally with her partner, 2 dogs, 2 cats and some tropical fish. She enjoys being outside and loves a bit of camping!

Bec graduated from Liverpool University in 1995 and joined Market Vets in 2015. She enjoys all aspects of working with small animals and is particularly interested in internal medicine. Working three days a week in our Barnstaple branch, she spends her spare time running and walking the beautiful North Devon coast.

Becky Whelan

Becky joined our Barnstaple team in December 2018, working full-time. She gained experience in retail over the last 10 years in Barnstaple. As well as her full-time job, she is also mum to 21 year old James and 15 year old Daisy, who belong to a myriad of clubs, keeping her very busy. The fourth member of this family is Duke, their yellow lab and in her moment of spare time, she likes relaxing at home and walking her dog with the family.

Beth Harris

Beth joined Market Vets in October 2021 following a passion in animal care. Beth is currently completing her Veterinary Care Assistant course with the hope to train as a Veterinary nurse in the future. In her spare time, Beth enjoys exploring the countryside with her two cocker spaniels Boris and Florence.

Craig Ferguson

Yorkshire born and bred, Craig graduated from Liverpool University in 2001 and has been with the practice since 2008. Originally a mixed practitioner, treating large and small animals, he now focuses on cats, dogs and anything else small enough to fit through the surgery door, although he still enjoys seeing emergency large animal cases out of hours. He is principally based at the Barnstaple branch where he is Clinical Director. He has a particular interest in small animal surgery and has achieved a certificate at Masters level in this area, and has been granted Advanced Practitioner status by the Royal College as recognition of his further studies. Craig lives with his family (2 dogs, 2 girls, 1 boy and 1 wife) on the edge of Exmoor and enjoys nothing more than exploring the hidden depths of the North Devon countryside and the National Park. After dark he can be found on the badminton court, in the kitchen or with a glass of red.

Ellen Harmer

Ellen qualified from the University of Cambridge in 2002 and spent a few years in a small animal practice in Hertfordshire. She then returned to the University of Cambridge as a Clinical Intern, doing further training and research in ophthalmology. After a few years away from practice raising a young family, Ellen joined the small animal team at South Molton in 2012. You'll often see Ellen on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at the South Molton surgery. Ellen enjoys all aspects of small animal medicine and retains her particular interest in ophthalmology.

Emma Prouse RVN

Emma qualified in 1992, and joined Market Vets in November 2010. Coming from a mixed practice background, she now mainly concentrates on small animal nursing. She heads up our team of nurses across both branches. In her spare time, she is still kept busy with her two teenagers, although she tries to get out running at least three times a week to stay fit.

Fiona Latimer

Fiona Joined the Reception team in January 2016 and is based in our South Molton Surgery. She loves greeting all the pets with cuddles and gravy bones, hoping to give them all a good, positive experience whilst visiting! Fiona has a very naughty Cocker Spaniel called Koopa and a feisty cat called Todd who rules them all! Outside of work she spends a lot of her spare time going to the beach, on coastal walks and exploring different parts of beautiful North Devon.

Gabriella Dipol

Gabby has joined the practice after graduating from Bristol university in the summer of 2021. She enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine with animals both large and small and is particularly interested in infectious diseases and surgery. New to the area, she has been spending her free time exploring as many of the Devonshire beaches, hills and cream teas as she can, recommendations welcome.

Heather qualified in 1994 after training at Bicton College of Agriculture. Born into a farming family, she has spent her life working with animals. She also has a keen interest in wildlife and the countryside. Heather works part time, so she can give time to bringing up her children Carly and George.

Heidi Green

Heidi has been with us since March 2018 and is based in South Molton. She loves all animals and has recently taken on a stray duckling and a flock of partridges to rehabilitate. In her spare time she enjoys walking George her Springer Spaniel, particularly at Westward Ho! beach.

Jane joined us in January 2009, having moved to Devon from Buckinghamshire. She knows the area well as her horse Zim was kept in Croyde for the last few years of his life. She is based at Barnstaple where she has taken on the role of Branch Manager, and also enjoys spending time on reception. Since working for Market Vets, Jane has completed a Veterinary Practice Receptionist Course. In her spare time Jane enjoys walking her excitable Springer Spaniel Bauer, who is quite the comedian!

Katie joined us in our Barnstaple branch in May 2018, working part-time Mon-Fri 8.30am-2pm. Having gained experience as a Dental Practice receptionist previously, she now splits her time between here and at home with her two young children, who keeps her very busy.

Lauren moved from Surrey to Devon in 2011 and joined the practice as a Veterinary Care Assistant in 2012. She began her Veterinary Nurse training in 2013 and qualified in December 2015. To further develop her knowledge, she undertook the 'Nurses Certificate in Anaesthesia'. Outside of work, Lauren enjoys spending time with her husband, Bella their dog and Willow their cat!

Michelle joined the Market Vets team in May 2014. Michelle is a Devon girl who has always worked in a customer service environment. Michelle first joined as part of the reception team where she loved meeting the clients and their pets, from her receptionist position she worked her way up to becoming reception manager and then in 2017, Michelle gained promotion to become Practice Manager. Michelle is responsible for answering queries, the day to day running of the practice, coordinating the vet's diaries, overseeing stock control, as well as many other tasks that are thrown her way! When Michelle is away from work, she loves to spend time with her family and friends making as many memories as she can.

Michelle, known as Shelley in the practice joined us in August 2016, although she had been with us for many months prior to this on work experience while studying her diploma in animal management. Nicola qualified in 2017 from Bicton College, and joined Market Vets in February 2018. She is mainly based in our Barnstaple branch, where she has a keen interest in small animals especially cats. Nicola moved down to Devon in 1998 with her family from the West Midlands. She now lives on a farm with her horses, alpacas, ducks, chickens and of course her cats. In her spare time she loves riding around the countryside on her horses and spending lots of time with her feline friends.

Poppy Waller

Poppy joined the practice in June 2014 and completed her Veterinary Care Assistant course at Bridgwater College. She left for maternity leave and has since returned as part of the reception team. She spends her spare time with her 16 month old son Henry and helping out on the family farm. Her menagerie of animals including Miniature Shetland ponies, dogs and cats also keep her busy!
