I have a keen interest in furthering my nursing knowledge as I feel this directly benefits our patients. To this end, I have gained my advanced diploma in surgical nursing, a certificate in anaesthesia and, most recently, a Masters in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia. I am extremely proud to be part of the Swift Referrals team, seeing interesting, and often challenging cases, and observing the outstanding care that is provided by all. I am particularly interested in helping to support and develop our nursing team, allowing us to provide the best care to our patients. Away from work I enjoy keeping active with running, pilates and lots of dog walks. I have two daughters and a cheeky dachshund to also keep me busy.

I am an Animal Care Assistant here at Swift Referrals. My main areas of interest are wards and theatre. I find this area of work enjoyable because I get to see a patient's journey of recovery. Outside of work I can be found walking all over Nidderdale with my dog Minnie or crocheting all sorts.

Ellen Harrison

Job Titles:
  • Business Relationship Manager
  • RVN Business Relationship Manager
I qualified with a Foundation degree in Veterinary Nursing in 2018, before spending 4 years in a small animal first opinion/exotics referrals practice as an RVN, then Lead RVN. In 2022, I made the leap into referral nursing at Swift Referrals, working as a rotational nurse across wards, internal medicine and surgery. I've always had a strong interest in emergency and critical care and completed my certificate in this area in 2023. Nursing the most poorly animals and seeing them recover day by day is by far the most rewarding part of nursing! In 2025, I moved into the role of Business Relationship Manager, combining my passion for delivering the best care for our patients, with my love of having a good natter. My hands-on knowledge of Swift's clinical work is invaluable when working with our referring vets to make sure their experience with us is smooth, supportive and truly collaborative. I have also since completed a further qualification in Digital Marketing, to aid in ensuring Swift's online presence is as accessible and seamless as possible. Whether I'm out visiting practices, solving problems behind the scenes, or finding new ways to strengthen partnerships, my goal is always the same: to make life easier for our referring colleagues and ensure every patient gets the best possible care! Outside of work, I can be found spoiling my two rescue cats, Chewie and Lydia, on days out with my husband, or attempting to renovate our home with little to no knowledge on what we are doing!

Since I was little, I've always wanted to work with animals. By the time I was 9, I had two dogs, two cats and two hamsters and I even used to catch bugs! I always told my family I wanted to work in veterinary to help animals and I continued this through school and college. I volunteered in a kennels and eventually in a vet practice when I studied Animal Management in college at 16. I loved it so much, I knew that this was what I wanted to do! My passion to help animals is what drove me to become an animal care assistant. What I love the most is taking the time to look after the animals by encouraging their recovery in different ways. From feeding them their favourite meals, to taking them outside for fresh air, and ensuring they are clean and happy. It's the most rewarding job when they get to go home to their families. I spend my time outside of work enjoying nature as much as I can and spending time with friends and family as well as my cat Jackson! I also enjoy playing video games and reading a good book!

Leah Jordan

Job Titles:

I have been with Swift Referrals since October 2020, starting as a Client Care team member before taking the role as Client Care Manager. I look after everything from managing, supporting and training our Client Care team, making sure each day runs smoothly, organising rotas, communicating with both clients and referring vets, conducting team and individual meetings and most importantly, making sure our clients receive a high level of service and a positive experience. The most rewarding part of my job is seeing so many of our clients and their pets form bonds with our amazing client care team - some that were once nervous to come through our doors! When I'm not at work, my favourite thing to do is enjoy long walks in the peak district with my rescue Cocker Spaniel, Nero, and spending time with family and friends.

After working in various disciplines over the years, I have come to develop a keen interest in emergency and critical care, although I did enjoy large animal nursing (particularly equine).
