Dr. Genevieve Collette

Dr Collette was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She completed her undergraduate degree with a major in Biology and minor in Chemistry from Campbellsville University in Kentucky. During her undergraduate career, was a competitive volleyball player, having played in the CIS, ACAC and NCAA. She then went on to complete her Doctorate of Optometry at Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. During her time in Florida, she conducted vision screenings for athletes of the Special Olympics at two annual states games in Orlando, Florida. Dr. Collette has a special interest in treating Ocular Disease, including but not limited to Dry Eye Syndrome, Glaucoma, Diabetic Eye Disease, etc. She has previously been working with an Ophthalmology group in Florida where she was able to gain experience from general Ophthalmologists as well as a Corneal Specialist. Upon graduation, Dr Collette was honoured to receive the Heine Award for Excellence in Optics as well as the Beaver-Visitec International Dry Eye Award. Dr. Collette is an active member in the College of Optometrist of Ontario, Optometrist Association of Ontario and the Eye See Eye Learn program. Outside of the office, Dr. Collette enjoys spending time with her adorable pet children, a shiba inu Jax and black cat Zoe. She still is very active, taking in all the hiking around the Halton region. She is very happy to now call Ontario home and is thrilled to be practicing alongside such a great team providing top services to the surrounding community. She is also happy to provide services in both French and Spanish.

Dr. Grant Fraser

Dr. Fraser holds a Bachelor of Science degree (University of Guelph, 1978), a Master of Science degree (University of Toronto, 1980) and received his degree as Doctor of Optometry from the University of Waterloo in 1984. He earned his Advanced Ocular Disease and Therapeutics Certificate from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1987 and became a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry two years later.Dr. Fraser has been the recipient of several scholarships, including the Centennial Optics Scholarship, National Research Council of Canada Postgraduate Scholarship and Ontario Graduate Scholarship. He has also published several research papers in national science journals. From 1984 to 1988, Dr. Fraser provided eye care to Cree First Nation people along the West Coast of James Bay, and then worked in Optometry practices in Guelph, Toronto and Cambridge, before establishing Upper Grand Eye Care in 1995. He is an affiliate doctor with the TLC Laser Centre. Dr. Fraser has been actively involved in international health care, volunteering his expertise to provide eye care to underserved people in Mexico and Jamaica

Dr. Mariam Nahal

Dr. Nahal completed her undergraduate studies from McMaster University in Biology and Psychology and pursued her Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo. There, she earned numerous awards and scholarships including American Optometric Foundation Carl Zeiss Vision Fellowship, Walman Optical Scholarship, Varilux Student Award and Vistakon J. Pat Cummins Acuvue Award. She went on to complete a Residency with subspecialty in Refractive and Ocular Surgery co-management through Pacific University from IRIS Ophthalmology Clinic in Langley, which at that time was the only accredited position in Canada. She has also recently completed her Optometric Extension Clinical Curriculum Program. As an optometry student, Dr. Nahal wore many hats. Most significantly, she served as the President of Canadian Association of Optometry for Students (CAOS), Student Liaison for Vision Institute of Canada (VIC) and Student Liaison for Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB). She was also an active member of Lion's club conducting school screenings and VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity) participating in mission trip to Cameroon. During her academic training she had the privilege to do her internships in Toronto and Waterloo and completed her Ocular Disease externship at the prestigious, University of Texas Southwestern Ophthalmology Clinic. From her rotations and residency, Dr. Nahal gained extensive experience in therapeutic treatment and management of eye diseases including but not limited to glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataract, refractive and corneal surgeries, retinal conditions, and specialty contact lens fittings. Her most recent work with Optometric Extension Program Foundation (OEPF) has given her tools to conduct in office vision therapy related to Learning Related Visual Problems, Visual Dysfunctions and Strabismus and Amblyopia. Dr. Nahal is a member of the College of Optometrists of Ontario, the Ontario Association of Optometrists and the Canadian Association of Optometrists. She is TPA certified and practices full scope optometry serving all ages.

Dr. Shalini Vettivelu

Dr. Vettivelu earned an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Genetics at the University of Waterloo (2012, dean's honour list) and Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo (2016, dean's honour list). She completed an Advanced Ocular Disease and Therapeutics externship in Muskogee, Oklahoma at the Montgomery Veterans Hospital, where she received extensive training in the management of ocular diseases. Dr. Vettivelu is very passionate about providing all patients with gold-standard eye care. She cares for patients of all ages, with special interest in children's vision. She is also passionate about community involvement and was an executive member of the University of Waterloo Lion's Club and helped to organize multiple charitable fundraisers to purchase guide dogs for the visually impaired. Dr. Vettivelu volunteered her services in Mexico, providing eye care to impoverished communities. Dr. Vettivelu was raised in Guelph and is very pleased to be a member or our team in Centre Wellington.
