The first company in the Orestod group of companies was Marias Technology. The Marias name comes from the Great Northern Railroad's mountain pass over the Montana Rockies, Marias Pass, which later became the southern border of Glacier National Park. Railroads and the area around Glacier are both very special to the Haines family, who vacation there frequently. So it was a desire to have a reference to both Glacier National Park, as well as hint to the relationship between GVC and Marias Technology, when selecting the name for the coffee shop.
