Vickie McDaniel

Job Titles:
  • Meet Contributing Author
Vickie McDaniel never PLANNED to be in real estate property management, but plans change! Although not the original plan, she LOVES real estate and has been owner/broker of Gates Management & Realty for 27 years. Her business is a small, mostly residential, property management firm in NC which also engages in sales and some interior design. The company embraces the concept of being a Lifetime Realtor, meaning that from your first rental property to your first home purchase, your need for a larger home as time progresses, your first investment property and all the way to senior downsizing to one level homes when necessary - Gates Management & Realty in NC is here to serve all your real estate needs. Vickie has been on the board of her local association, Orange Chatham Association of Realtors, for a number of years dating back to 2004. She started a Property Management Council which included some local homeowners who managed their own property in order to educate the community as well as realtors. Vickie is also a member of the OCHAR's new diversity committee. She is an active member of NARPM on both a local and national levels. During the last two years, she was asked to be on a few state committees. One such committee's purpose was to be a voice in making changes to the state property management contracts and now Vickie is on a committee examining the possibility of creating a certification/designation program for NC property managers. On a personal note, Vickie is a lover of flowers and all things beautiful. She often graces the world with pictures of flowers from her gardens via Facebook. She leads a group of women once a week called Inspiration & Perspiration as they exercise and study. She also loves to sing and goes to hear various musical concerts with her husband, Len Moss, who is also in real estate as his retirement job. Vickie has one other love, The Historic Burwell School, and she is a commissioner for this site. The Burwell was a school for young ladies in the 1800's, many of whom gained an education that led to great futures. An enslaved person working at the Burwell named Elizabeth Keckly, even during the chaos of slavery, went on to purchase her freedom, start a dress making business, become best friends and dressmaker to the President's wife (Mary Todd Lincoln) and to write a book. If this could happen in the 1800's, then young women of our century should be able to find success in all their endeavors. To sum up Vickie McDaniel, she has a love of homes (rentals and sales), diversity, beauty, music and education.
