SUGARCREEK FORGE - Key Persons

Tim Troyer

Tim has been making knives for more than 20 years. His journey started by making a lock back folder for his own personal use. This was certainly starting the hard way, but luckily he did not know that. Tim is an avid outdoorsman and has tested his designs with his own hands hunting, fishing, camping, and in the field. He had the good fortune of being mentored by Rick Hinderer who taught him to forge Damascus steel, improve his folder designs, and use knife making tools effectively. Like an old school cutler, he makes a little bit of everything knife and tool related. He is also the founder of Bamba Forge in Uganda and over using blacksmithing and knife making to help people make a living and a life in the developing world. This work is done through The Reckoning International, a faith-based organization that mobilizes people and resources to transform the lives of families living in poverty.
