Darlene joined our team in 2018 and has been in the optical industry since 2012. She loves providing excellent service to her community. Aside from her manager duties, she enjoys helping patients find glasses they love. When she is out of the office, she likes working out and traveling with friends and family.
Dr. Mai Nguyen is a California board-licensed Doctor of Optometry, glaucoma certified and licensed in the use of diagnostic and therapeutic pharmaceutical agents. She graduated with honors as a member of Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society from Western University of Health Sciences. Her passion in optometry started after accidentally taking an Intro to Optometry course at UC Berkeley and she's never looked back. Her expertise ranges from managing and treating ocular diseases, providing care for refractive surgery patients, and conducting comprehensive vision exams.Throughout her training, she has always been passionate about providing vision care for the underserved, advocating for patient rights and access to care. She enjoys cultivating strong patient relationships and providing the highest quality standard of care to her patients. Over the last several years, she's volunteered her skills to provide vision screenings to underserved patients as well as free eye exams to hundreds of patients in Guatemala. While in school, she was active as both a student ambassador for the American Optometric Student Association, and Vice President of the Optometric Extension Program (OEP). When she's not helping transform her patients' vision, Dr. Mai Nguyen loves to sing karaoke, hike, travel and-yes-clean.
Johnathan is the Victorville office manager and has been working with our company for several years. After 5 years of optical experience, Johnathan is inspired to return to UC Riverside for his bachelor's degree in Biology to pursue Optometry. In his free time, he enjoys going on adventures with friends and family such as attending music festivals and traveling the world. He also loves to wind down by online gaming on League of Legends, watching binge worthy shows on Netflix, and indulging in self care. Johnathan lives by his favorite quote from the television series Grey's Anatomy, "the carousel never stops turning." He says it reminds us that negativity is always around us, but as life moves on, we have a choice to stay positive and smile.
Joining the team in early 2020, Karen is no stranger to the world of optometry. She has worked as an optician for 20 years, is ABO certified and ran a lab for 5 years. She's also managed a private practice for 10 years. The most rewarding thing about her 35 year career in this field is the friendships she developed with her patients.
Omar joined the team in 2020 but started his optical career in 1998 and has been in the field for over 20 years. He initially started because he enjoyed helping people find the right pair of frames. Years later he devoted his talents to the lab department, finding that repairing and perfecting lenses is just as rewarding. He and his family have a great passion for baseball and when Omar is off the clock he likes to coach his daughters softball team.
Although fairly new to The Eye Shoppe team, Patty has been in the optical field for two years now. Seeing a variety of opportunities within this field, she decided to join the Eye Shoppe team and grow along side this company. During her free time she likes to craft with her two children and spend time with her family.
