Adonis Ioannides is the Dean of the University of Nicosia Medical School. Professor Ioannides qualified from the University of Manchester Medical School (MBChB with honours) and got a PhD in Developmental Biology from University College London. His research interests include the study of the developmental and genetic basis of congenital malformations and of tracheo-oesophageal development and malformations.

Agnieszka Swiecicka-Mitsides is an Associate Professor at the University of Nicosia Medical School. Dr Swiecicka-Mitsides graduated from the Medical University of Lublin, Poland, in 2006 and continued her postgraduate education in the United Kingdom where she has been practicing medicine for the past 15 years. She has been a member of the Royal College of Physicians, UK since 2009 and completed a Specialist Training in Endocrinology, Diabetes and General Internal Medicine in 2018. She subsequently worked as a Consultant Endocrinologist and Diabetologist at the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust where she was a clinical lead for antenatal endocrine services and ran joint clinics in reproductive endocrinology. She also completed a prestigious 3-year Fellowship in Clinical Andrology in 2017 and is a qualified Clinical Andrologist accredited by the European Academy of Andrology. Dr Swiecicka-Mitsides is active in medical research and she was awarded a PhD in Endocrinology from the University of Manchester, UK in 2019 for her research into the role of endocrine factors in unsuccessful ageing and frailty in men. She has presented her work at a number of international conferences and has published articles and book chapters in her area of clinical and academic interest which include reproductive endocrinology, andrology and infertility.

Dr Sioftanos is a Member of the UK Royal College of General Practitioners and he has a special interest in diabetes and in cardiology.

Marilena Zackheos

Marilena Zackheos holds a BA in Philosophy and a BA in English Language and Literature with a concentration in Poetry Writing from the University of Virginia. She also holds an MA in English Studies from Queen Mary, University of London, an MPhil in English and a PhD in English (specializing in Postcolonial Studies) from George Washington University. She has been the Director of The Cyprus Center for Intercultural Studies since September 2012. She is also Assistant Professor of Social Sciences at the University of Nicosia. Her specializations cover postcolonial literary and cultural studies, diaspora studies, island literatures, gender and sexuality, psychoanalysis and trauma. Her recent work includes a co-edited collection on The Role of Education in a Multicultural Cyprus(forthcoming in 2016), a co-edited collection of essays entitled Vile Women: Female Evil in Fact, Fiction, and Mythology (published by Inter-Disciplinary Press, Oxford, United Kingdom, 2014), and a chapter in Revisiting Sexualities in the 21st Century (by Cambridge Scholars Publishing, Newcastle upon Tyne 2015) entitled "Misogynism as Disidentification." She is active in Literary Agency Cyprus, a group that promotes the Anglophone literatures of Cyprus, as well as of Whirling Words, a Literary Agency Cyprus project for women writers in Cyprus and for women writers with a connection to the island. She is a member also of the following non-profits: Write Cy, Cyprus Academic Dialogue, and the Association for Historical Dialogue and Research. She is interested in bringing to the forefront in public discourse individual and collective narratives of interpersonal and interethnic conflict, focusing particularly on cases of reconciliation, resilience, survival and recovery from trauma.

Mr Pericleous holds a BA (Hons) in Business Studies from the University of West London, United Kingdom. Since 1989 he is the Executive Director and Manager of The Perick Pharmacal, a company which represents in Cyprus amongst other, the Swiss company SIGVARIS GROUP, the global market leader in the manufacture of medical compression garments. Mr Pericleous has been a volunteer for many years, representing patient organisations in Cyprus and abroad. He travelled extensively in Middle East, Asia and North Africa advocating to and assisting national and regional health authorities in the areas of screening and prevention of thalassaemia, initiating medical treatments with the introduction of new medicines in their national formularies for thalassaemics. He made presentations on thalassaemia syndromes to patients and parents, to medical professionals, to the pharmaceutical industry and to healthcare authorities in affected countries. Peter V. Scoles

Peter V. Scoles MD is Professor of Orthopaedics and Vice Dean for Academic Programme Development at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University. He is Visiting Professor at the School of Medicine at the University of Minho, Portugal and Visiting Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the Agostino Gemelli School of Medicine, Universitá del Sacro Cuore, Rome. Dr Scoles was responsible for the design of the JeffMD undergraduate PBL curriculum and directs the University's international medical education programmes. He leads new educational programme development at the medical college, and is responsible for co-curriculum pathways across the University. Prior to joining the Jefferson faculty in 2013, he served as Senior Vice President and Executive Director for International Programmes at the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME). He was responsible for the design and oversight of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) programme and the NBME's portfolio of domestic and international certification examinations. Professor Scoles graduated from the Pennsylvania State University-Jefferson Medical College 5-year programme in Medicine, and holds the degrees of Master of Science from Ohio State University and Master of Arts from John Carroll University. Prior to joining the NBME, Dr Scoles was Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and Assistant Dean at the Case-Western Reserve University College of Medicine He is Board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery, with sub-specialty expertise in spinal disorders and is an Attending Surgeon at the Philadelphia Shriners Hospital for Children. Research interests: Operative and non-operative management of scoliosis and related spinal deformities.

Polina Petrou is a BA student in Law at the University of Nicosia. Since September 2015, she has assumed the position of Center Assistant at the Cyprus Center for Intercultural Studies. She is also responsible for the promotion and planning of events.
