Mr. van der Veen also holds a postdoctoral degree in ophthalmology and is scientifically active in the field. Professional journey - Mr. van der Veen graduated from medical school at the University of Maastricht in the Netherlands. During his studies he interned at the former Aruba Eye Institute in Aruba, Dutch Antiles and in the Gold Coast Hospital in Southport, Australia. He then got selected for a PhD research at the department of Ophthalmology at the Maastricht University Medical Center, which led to the publication of his thesis titled ‘Macular Pigment in the Healthy and Diseased Retina'. This research was conducted in collaboration with the University of Manchester, England and the University Hospital of Bonn, Germany.
