Ian Matthews

Qualifications: Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Initially with the Department of Main Roads (now TFNSW), Ian then spent over 20 years in the housing sector particularly focused on subdivisions and the delivery of public housing - holding various positions including Director, Housing Production Division. Returning to the RTA (now TFNSW) in 1998, as General Manager Infrastructure Contracts, Ian was involved with all of RTA's major Government funded projects and had a key role in establishing the RTA's alliance model which has resulted in infrastructure worth $2 billion being delivered by alliances. He was involved with the delivery of the Eastern Distributor PPP project as a representative on the Project Control Group and was involved in the management and operation of the M2, M4, M5 and Sydney Harbour Tunnel. During this period, Ian developed a thorough understanding of the issues involved with delivery of major infrastructure, and a focus on managing contracting risk and the resolution of major contractual claims. More recently, Ian is a key member of our commercial and technical advisory team having been involved in the development of the tender documents, evaluation plans and managing the selection processes for a number of road and infrastructure projects.
