Andrew Youmans

Job Titles:
  • Investor and Operations Management - Consultant
Education: Dartmouth College, BA 1987; Harvard Business School, MBA 1992 Andy began his career as a domestic oils analyst in 1986, while still in college, working for Salomon Brothers. After graduation, he took a job at First Boston Corporation as a real estate analyst, and then later for the Farkas family as part of Metropolitan Asset Group. In 1989 he changed course, and joined his family's manufacturing business, Connecticut Spring (CSS). While VP of Operations at CSS, he attended Harvard Business School, graduating in 1992. Seeking to learn more about how to lead at CSS, he began a multi-year investigation into the Toyota Production System (TPS). Andy believed that the TPS, although never deeply understood or codified, had been at the heart of Toyota's success. He fostered and participated in a relationship between Harvard Business School (HBS) and the Toyota Supplier Support Center (TSSC) to do just that. In 1996, HBS published groundbreaking materials on the subject, which are still in use today. In response to growing interest in the TPS generated from the published materials, and with the blessing of the TSSC, Andy left his family's business in 1996 to start his own operations management-consulting firm, Yomo Consulting. Over the next 15 years as president of Yomo, Andy worked with companies both large and small, in a variety of industries located around the world to implement the TPS. He stepped down as president in 2011. Most recently, Andy has sought out and invested in companies where his experience at Yomo could add value. He currently maintains a small portfolio of companies as principal and works to support their activities. He continues to work on consulting projects within Yomo.

Having mapped out her future in law at an early age, Gaby graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in Political Theory from the University of Pennsylvania. She went on to pursue a law degree at Columbia University where she was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. For 15 years, she was a partner in a prestigious New York law firm specializing in litigation. Additionally, she co- chaired the Hiring Committee responsible for hiring lawyers for that 200-person law firm. She joined the leadership of Paradigm during their most exciting and challenging growth period. She distinguished herself as one who consistently generated results, drawing upon her expertise in litigation and her twelve year background as a coach, seminar leader and world-wide trainer with one of the country's largest personal development education companies. After three and a half years, she left Paradigm, intending to work on her own, when she was approached by Lauren Zander to come on board at The Handel Group® as a Corporate Consultant. It was clear that her expertise in program development and unique background in training and mentoring seminar leaders qualified her to lead The Handel Group® Education Division. Under Gaby's leadership, The Handel Group® Education Division is committed to introducing The Handel Method® into the mainstream educational system through courses, which provide growth-oriented direction inherent within the classroom learning environment. "It's about lifelong learning," says Gaby. Her vision as Principal is to offer life skills and tools that enable individuals to deal with their lives truthfully. For Gaby, a life of her own design includes not only her professional endeavors, but also the nurturing of herself, her marriage, her two daughters and her love of singing. Vanessa Coppola

Job Titles:
  • Life Coach
  • Staff Coach
When Vanessa came to Handel Group as a Coach in Training in 2015, she quickly fell in love with the company's culture of honesty and humor. It didn't take long for Vanessa to join the operations side of the team to mastermind the systems that keep Handel Group thriving from the inside out. As a recovering "people pleaser," Vanessa learned that telling her truth and designing her time in accordance with her deepest desires is the hack to her happiness. She became an HG Coach in 2018 and enjoys championing her clients to live a beautifully designed life they're proud of. Vanessa has always had a thing for understanding the mechanics of how humans and communities work. With an undergraduate degree in Anthropology from Wesleyan University in Connecticut, Vanessa embarked on her journey to change the world, beginning with a 10 year stint in education. From nursery school through universities, Vanessa specialized in building programs to empower students, teachers, and communities. She earned her MS in Ecological Teaching and Learning from Lesley University in 2010, and quickly put her degree to work in building a residential school for 10th grade girls on the Maine coast. After taking a few years at home with her first child, Vanessa returned to her love of transforming the lives of her employees, colleagues, and clients through The Handel Method and the power of Personal Integrity. As a former workaholic, Vanessa particularly enjoys working with people to master their time and get insanely proud of their relationship to themselves, their career, and their family. She lives in Grantham, New Hampshire with her hubby, Bobby, and two sons, Callan & Bo. The clan spends their time playing in the woods, figuring out how to grow vegetables, boxing in their basement gym, and mastering the air guitar during, but not limited to, their kitchen dance parties. Lifetimes ago, when not charged with changing humanity, community, and academia, Vanessa was an All-American lacrosse player, spent two years traveling the country in a retrofitted bus, and ran the Umstead Trail Marathon (just once). Vanessa Coppola is a life coach at The Handel Group. In this topic session she discusses what it takes to find clarity.
