Adam Quinn

Adam Quinn joined the Board at HG Construction in 2015 and was appointed CEO in 2022. A natural leader with a clear vision of how HG will continue its successful growth trajectory, Adam is extremely skilled in building long term relationships as well as managing large and complex projects. Adam has driven HG Construction's ethos of finding better ways to do things and is a keen advocate of off-site solutions in particular. He was instrumental in forming HG Mechanical & Electrical to build on HG's in-house capabilities in order to achieve cost and programme efficiencies for clients. HG M&E now delivers around 60% of all HG Construction M&E packages. Adam is committed to delivering sustainable, managed growth for the HG Construction Group, investing in people, processes and plant to ensure that we continue to offer the best possible service for our clients.

Chris Benham - Chairman

Chris Benham is Group Executive Chairman and has been with the HG Group for 40 years. He has been instrumental in growing and developing HG Construction into one of the Top 100 construction companies in the UK with a turnover in excess of £250m. Chris joined Hunting Gate in 1982 having trained with John Laing Construction and qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 2000. He was one of the existing directors of Hunting Gate that led the management buyout to form HG Construction. Chris's ethos of identifying and exceeding client expectations has become ingrained into the HG Group's culture and underpins the Group's track record in achieving an exceptionally high percentage of repeat business.

Craig McPhail

Craig joined HG Living in April 2022 as a Director and Board member. He is a recognised specialist in the field of student accommodation, residential development and investment. A qualified Chartered Surveyor (MRICS) with a BSc in Real Estate, Craig previously worked for 14 years at Montagu Evans in London where he was a Profit Sharing Partner and Head of Alternative Living. Over the last five years Craig has overseen acquisitions and sales with a GDV in excess of £1 billion. Within his role at HG Living, Craig is responsible for: The sourcing and identifying of PBSA, BtR and AH sites across the UK The appraisal and acquisition of these opportunities The sale of the developments to meet the Board's objectives

Dan Rock - CFO

Dan joined the HG Group as Finance Director in 2019 and is responsible for Finance, Human Resources and Insurance across the HG Group of companies. Degree qualified and an ACA Chartered (ICAEW) Accountant, Dan has extensive knowledge of auditing property and construction businesses. He has an excellent understanding and experience of multi-million pound property and development strategies, acquisitions and financing. Dan is a valued and trusted member of the HG team and has succeeded in driving efficiencies and improving procedures and structures across finance and HR over the past two years. He is responsible for all finance matters, advising on group strategy and ensuring internal controls remain strong. His proactive and collaborative approach enables the wider finance department to operate as a highly effective team.

James Young

James is responsible for all development management activities at HG Living. He delivers positive outcomes for investors, partners and clients by successfully leading developments through site acquisition, planning, construction, all the way through to completion. James has 12 years' experience in the property sector and holds a Masters in Town Planning and Urban Design. Prior to joining HG Living in 2021, he worked for property developers Quintain Estates and Development, Pocket Living and The Collective. He has been successful in securing planning permission for numerous developments and has delivered more than 1 million sq ft of residential and commercial development to date. James has expertise in the Build to Rent, Mixed-Use, Co-living and Student Accommodation markets, and will work closely with the directors to expand HG Living's presence across those sectors.

Julie Hollis

Julie is a valued member of the HG Group and has been an instrumental part of the team for almost 10 years. She has over 20 years' experience working within the construction sector. A strong communicator with excellent organisational, problem-solving and reporting skills, Julie ensures the smooth running of the HG offices in Hitchin and Farringdon. Julie will provide HG Living with executive level administration support and will act as key point of contact for executives, employees, clients and other external stakeholders.

Mark Quinn

Mark is a real estate expert who has provided consultancy services to the HG Construction Group over the last 5 years, successfully acquiring sites, securing planning permission and identifying an end user on their behalf. He joined the HG Living board as Director in March 2023. Mark has a wealth of experience in sales, land acquisition, planning, construction and property development. He has secured planning for 800+ residential units across Southeast England to date. Mark holds a Post-graduate Degree in Building and Surveying as well as a Degree in Business and Psychology. He is particularly skilled in identifying solid business opportunities, understanding stakeholder needs and building mutually beneficial relationships. As a director of HG Living Mark is responsible for driving forward the growth of the business in the BtR, PBSA and Affordable Housing sectors.

Matt King

Job Titles:
  • Investment & Acquisitions Manager
Matt King joined the HG Living team in March 2023 as an Investment and Acquisitions Manager. He previously worked with the Montagu Evans ‘Living' Capital Markets Team, working on sourcing investment and development opportunities for developers and institutional investors as well as the disposal of fully operational assets, primarily in the PBSA, BTR and Co-Living sectors. Matt completed his APC training and qualified as a member of the RICS in November 2022. He also holds an MSc in Real Estate from CASS Business School. Matt's role within HG Living is focused on the sourcing of new development opportunities and securing funding/investment partners for future developments in the PBSA, BTR, Co-Living and Hotel sectors. He is responsible for identifying areas suitable for high-density developments in locations with strong connectivity, with the aim of creating good quality, fundable assets.
