At Otem Collective, we are dedicated to challenging the status quo and reshaping the way we care for orphaned and vulnerable children. We envision a world where families are at the forefront and orphanages serve as a last resort rather than the default option... In a village belonging to the Lango tribe in Northern Uganda, the otem is a gathering place. A resting and eating place in the courtyard, the otem typically has a fire. This gathering place around the fire symbolizes family, community, and togetherness. We seek to build for every child what is found around an otem-family and community, and our logo visually represents an otem: a fire surrounded by circles of children, families, and community. At Otem Collective, we are for families, and we believe that the child is better supported when the whole system, including the family and community, is strong...
