Dr. Aleksandra Stelmach

Dr. Aleksandra Stelmach is a Postdoctoral Research Associate on the Wellcome Trust funded project, Biomedical Research and the Politics of the Human in the Department of Global Health and Social Medicine at King's College London. Her work on the project involves tracking the emergence of organoids and their biomedical applications across different fields, particularly in the context of infectious disease and global health. She is an interdisciplinary social scientist, drawing on theories and methods across science and technology studies, science communication and sociology of science and medicine. In her previous research she explored the fields of epigenetics, gene drive and CRISPR, gene therapies and synthetic biology. She holds a PhD in Science and Technology Studies from the University of Nottingham, and before joining King's she worked on research projects at the University of Exeter, University of Sheffield, and UWE Bristol.
