PROPERTY CAPITAL ALLOWANCE - Key Persons

Chris Roberts - Managing Director

Job Titles:
  • Managing Director
I joined Capital Allowance Review Service nine years ago with a background and diploma in financial advisory. I analyse commercial property transactions specifically for Capital Allowances and support the team in ensuring the right approach is taken when reviewing cases. In addition to being a key part of the claims process, I've also enjoyed growing the business that continues to go from strength to strength. Given the technicalities surrounding this sector, a key strategy has been to build a team that consisted of well-qualified people across key technical disciplines.

Christine Hunter

Job Titles:
  • Claims Analyst

David Corfield

Job Titles:
  • Senior Claims Analyst
It's fair to say experience is a key strength of mine having previously worked on audits and preparing accounts for 38 years. Since joining Capital Allowance Review Service in 2015, I've prepared Capital Allowance claims on all sorts of properties for all types of businesses. I enjoy the challenge in applying complex Capital Allowance legislation to each and every scenario we come across.

Glyn Morrey

Job Titles:

I consider myself to be well experienced in the field of general building works, with particular expertise in construction detailing and costing. I qualified as a Chartered Surveyor (ARICS) in 1975, becoming a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in April 1987. For the majority of my career I have been employed by a construction company (for over 30 years and latterly as the Managing Director).

Ian Lowe

Job Titles:
  • Chartered Surveyor
I'm a chartered surveyor and I have experience in both the private and public sectors working within both local and larger corporate practices. Although qualified in a number of areas specific to property surveying, surveying premises for Capital Allowances offers the most varied and interesting projects. I can find myself anywhere in the UK completing interesting site surveying and meeting interesting people.

James Beardmore

Job Titles:
  • Director / Property Lawyer
With a background in Law (specialising in Commercial Property) and Estate Agency, I am able to support the team with any areas of a claim where legislation may be causing obstacles when completing claims for our clients. I also have a strong passion to build a hugely positive culture within our team environment so I work hard putting together business plan and special projects that encourage the best from our team.

Jess Mountford

Job Titles:
  • Project Assistant
My role entails helping to collate and organise information for our current claims, whilst keeping all parties up to speed with the progress. Having experience in client management and administration has been advantageous in developing my role as Project Assistant here at CARS, and I am very excited to continue expanding my knowledge and skills within this industry!

Lydia Marks

Job Titles:
  • Project Coordinator
I've spent a number of years in the property industry before joining Capital Allowance Review Service in September 2020 as part of the Project Team. I help manage all the Capital Allowance claims we process ensuring our clients, and their advisors, experience a great level of service. As each case can involve a number of individuals in addition to the client ranging from accountants, solicitors, estate managers, tenants etc, it's important each case is carefully managed. I like to organise and create new processes to improve systems and it's great to be part of a team that encourages that.

Mark Doodney

Job Titles:
  • Tax Specialist
I was a fully technically trained officer with HMRC for 28 years, where I was a capital allowance specialist and compliance manager. Since leaving I have been heavily involved in representing clients under HMRC enquiry. I was the lead caseworker in the First-tier Tax Tribunal cases of May & Anor v Comms for HMRC and JRO Griffiths Ltd v Comms for HMRC, which found that capital allowances were due in respect of grain and potato stores respectively.

Melissa Lovett

Job Titles:
  • Marketing Coordinator
I have spent my career in customer service roles and have enjoyed building relationships with clients. I joined Capital Allowance Review Service in August 2019 where I promote our services through various forms of marketing. We sat down with Lisa, who we partnered with on a capital allowance claim for her client. Lisa is one of many accountants we work alongside to achieve exceptional results.

Michael Burgess

Job Titles:
  • Tax Director
In June 2003 I trained and qualified as both a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Advisor. My role as Tax Director means I now lead the firm's tax function. Others say that I'm often the first person to get involved in more complex transactions for the firm because of my knack of being able to make complex situations easier to understand.

I have been with Capital Allowance Review Service since July 2017, and I'm the Operations Manager here. My role as Operations Manager means I'm responsible for implementing the business plan and managing the day to day activities of the team. Job Titles:
  • Chartered Surveyor
I have over 30 years' experience in the property industry having started my career with the property team at Stoke on Trent City Council.
