Dr Samantha Battams

Dr Samantha Battams is an Associate Professor and experienced consultant, specialising in health, education, disablity and community service sectors. She has experience as a consultant across 27 years and has worked both as an independent consultant, and within teams in the university sector and as former Director (Research & Evaluation) at Health Outcomes International. She has completed assignments in Australia and Switzerland, for state and national governments, the private sector and NGOs. Dr Battams is Associate Professor (academic status) at the Southgate Institute for Health, Society and Equity, Flinders University. Dr Battams is experienced in governance and organisational reviews, strategic and operational policy reviews, public health research and evaluation, health and community services program and project evaluations, program reviews, systematic reviews of evidence, literature reviews, qualitative research (focus groups, interviews and document analysis), teaching and curriculum development, workforce development and training resources, strategic and business planning and needs assessments. She bring her academic training, knowledge, skills and experience across diverse sectors, organisations and communities to a broad range of projects. Dr Battams has a PhD (Public Health), BA (Hons) Sociology, BA Social Science (Sociology and Psychology double major), Graduate Certificate in Health Service Management and Diploma in French Language (DELF, Catholic University of Lyon). Her experience includes senior roles in academia, government and the private sector and international experience living and working in Geneva, Switzerland. Dr Battams has previously served as Panel Assessor on the District Court of South Australia hearing appeals against the Mental Health & Guardianship Acts and on the Public Health Association of Australia (co-convenor of the Mental Health special interest group). She had published books, book chapters and journal articles in leading international journals.
