100 miles west of Denver sits the town of Vail. Established in 1966, Vail, Colorado was founded by former members of the Army's 10th Mountain Division, a military branch who used the Vail Valley to train for winter warfare during World War II. Vail has since grown into one of the most famous Alpine destinations in the world, hosting more open space than any other resort community in the United States. 350,000 acres of White River National Forest surrounds the town creating a natural wonderland that attracts outdoor enthusiasts globally.
