We (Dr. Robert Malinow and his research team) investigate the physiological analogs of learning and memory by studying adaptive behavior and the neural dynamics that underlie synaptic plasticity. Further, we are actively searching for ways to prevent and treat brain disorders, including Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. We probe these questions on multiple levels (network, cellular, synaptic, and molecular) using a range of technologies, including electrophysiology, imaging, computational modeling, and various genetic and biochemical assays.
