Andrew Elwick

Andrew joined Tharsus in 2021 after 15 years in commercial advisory and senior business consulting roles for leading consultancies including PA and EY.

Andy Lyall

Job Titles:
  • Head of Supply Chain
Andy joined Tharsus in 2017 after over 15 years in logistics and supply chain positions, including senior roles in the safety and aerospace sectors. Here, Andy leads the team which looks after onboarding suppliers and sourcing components, while keeping up a close dialogue with our customers, to make sure we have the right amount of parts at the right time and to get their products into production, quickly and in way in which we can maintain delivery to them. Andy's team is playing a pivotal role in our continuing to maintain 100% customer delivery in the face of the steepest supply chain challenges in living memory.

Brian Palmer - Founder

Job Titles:

A mechanical engineer and entrepreneur, Brian founded Tharsus after roles in the automotive industry, including Nissan in his native North-East. He was elected Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in 2018. As Founder, Brian is the custodian of our business and the parameters by which we operate. He is also Tharsus' entrepreneur in chief, searching the world for the opportunities for partnerships and collaborations by which we'll engineer progress and solve some of the toughest challenges faced by society.

Bryony Vaughan

Bryony joined Tharsus in 2022 following 15 years in global sales and marketing roles, the last five of which, in senior management positions with water analysis tech leader Palintest. Here, she is the primary relationship holder with our customers, building a deep understanding of their business and objectives, growing and nurturing our shared vision with them, ensuring we deliver truly successful products.

Christine Reid - CIO

Job Titles:

Christine joined Tharsus in 2016 in a project management role initially. After several years of complex project deliveries for customers, her deep understanding of the needs of our tech stack to effectively support our collaborations with them, saw her progress into her current role. Her team ensures our IT initiatives keep our people working for you efficiently, productively and securely. They also maintain and curate a secure, streamlined collaborative working platform which allows our people to work seamlessly with you to keep strong, shared focus on driving your product development and advanced manufacturing journey forward.

Dave Swan - CTO

Job Titles:

Dave joined Tharsus in 2007 following ten years in senior engineering and operational management roles within the Tier 1 and OEM Automotive world at global companies including Viasystems and Magna Kansaei. He leads Solutions Architecture, the team of inquisitive generalists and natural collaborators that explores, creates, defines and then defends the inner essence of the Strategic Machine we create for customers.

David Williams - Chairman

David graduated in Naval Architecture, beginning his career in shipbuilding on the River Tyne in the mid 1970s. Roles in offshore engineering in the North Sea and elsewhere followed, before the completion of his MBA in the mid 1980s saw him move to UK -quoted private equity house 3i plc, where he spent 17 years. Since then, David has held numerous CEO and Chairman positions within privately owned businesses with a range of challenges and extensive international operations, including France and Denmark. Today David continues to work in a number of non-executive Chairman and Independent roles and became Chairman of Tharsus in 2012. He thrives on strategic challenge, adapting to market trends and change.

Gordon Ramsey

Gordon joined Tharsus in 2012 following over 20 years in senior operations and production roles in the automotive sector, including Nissan in his native North-East. Gordon's team is responsible for ensuring that the many new products we make, which have never been made before, are made to the exacting standards required to deliver competitive advantage and commercial success to our customers.

Isabela Santos-Barton

Isabela joined Tharsus in 2017 as a Quality Engineer, progressing to Lead Quality Engineer, Business Excellence Manager and now as Head of QHSE for Tharsus Group. Isabela's team champions, supports, co-ordinates and advises Tharsus Group on all aspects of quality, health and safety, environmental and business excellence activities to ensure Tharsus and Universal Wolf establish, monitor and deploy QHSE standards that are aligned to strategy. Prior to Tharsus, Isabela spent eight years in quality assurance and technician roles in large pharmaceutical, automotive and electronics businesses in her native Brazil.

Jason Penney

Jason joined Tharsus in 2018 following over 20 years in engineering and operations roles in the automotive and defence industries, including over eight years in senior roles at global automotive supplier Lear Corporation. Here he plays a crucial role in our collaboration with customers, leading on our early-stage engagement with them. This ensures we have absolute clarity of their requirements, and so have the right level of preparation in place and support within the business, as well as internal systems, to perfectly align with them.

Laurence Coppitters

Laurence Coppitters brings to Tharsus almost twenty years of deep experience in manufacturing, production planning, procurement and sales management in industries including consumer electronics, automotive and industrial automation. Laurence has been with Tharsus since 2006 and is Customer Services Manager within our Supply Chain team. She is passionate about ensuring our customer experience - from quotation all the way through to product delivery - is pain-free. She takes great pride in providing excellent customer service.

Liam Harrison

Liam Harrison has been working in engineering for 13 years, primarily leading the development of complex machinery and robotics. Liam joined Tharsus in 2014 and as our Principal Mechanical Engineer, he leads product development projects for various customers. He works within a multi-discipline team of engineers providing product development capability to our customers.

A Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Magnus joined Tharsus in 2021, bringing with him over 25 years experience in the delivery of innovative and high-quality engineering solutions. With a proven track record spanning offshore, energy, defence, automotive and automation sectors, he is well versed in the art of quickly and efficiently progressing new technologies and applications, from initial concept, through to fully engineered products. Here at Tharsus, Magnus enjoys applying this approach to ensure the delivery of exceptional engineering solutions for Tharsus and our clients.

Mark Todman

Mark has 20 years of experience in product commercialisation, working across the spectrum from agile start-ups to large corporates. He has led teams responsible for new product launches and understands what it takes to successfully introduce a new product that delivers growth and market success. At Tharsus, Mark works collaboratively across our Solve + Scale + Supply service offering to ensure that our customers' products are a commercial success.

Martin Gaffney - Chief Commercial Officer

Martin joined Tharsus in 2022 after more than 20 years in leading commercial roles with global businesses in sectors including defence, electronics, manufacturing and aerospace. For almost nine of these years he held senior management roles at global manufacturing giant, Jabil. Here, he leads the team who form and develop strategic relationships into the close customer collaborations which create automation and robotic solutions which engineer progress and solve tough global challenges.

Martin McCourt

Martin has spent over 40 years working at the heart of British-based manufacturing, design and marketing for quality brands such as Dyson, Mars, Duracell, Toshiba and Pelikan. As CEO of Dyson for 15 years, he devised and implemented a strategy that transformed the company from a single product, single market producer into one where 80% of the business came from over 60 markets around the world. In that time he increased UK skilled jobs and grew profits to over £300m. In 2011 Dyson hit £1 bn revenue for the first time. Martin was directly responsible for the establishment of Dyson subsidiaries in the USA, Japan, Switzerland, Austria and Germany. In total he took Dyson into over 60 markets, achieving market leadership in the majority including the USA. In 2010 Martin was named UK Business Leader of the Year.

Michael Anderson

Michael joined Tharsus in 2023 after 15 years in significant manufacturing businesses- latterly in senior commercial management and supply chain development roles. Here he uses his extensive commercial manufacturing knowledge to lead on nurturing the collaboration with our customers which sees their innovative products scale successfully into their intended markets.

Nick Adams

Nick joined Tharsus in 2021 after more the 20 years in design and engineering roles within the oil & gas and marine technology industries. Latterly he held a series of senior positions in engineering technology development consultancy Red Engineering working with large global organisations. At Tharsus we understand well how the fast-paced ever changing technology landscape impacts on our customers' needs. Nick ensures we have the capability within each product development team to harness this technology as well as bringing a strong delivery focus, meaning customers' products are delivered on time and to an exceptional standard.

Paul Featonby

Paul joined Tharsus in 2019, with extensive experience in growing teams, mentoring and developing people, as well as delivering world class R&D. Since then Paul has helped Tharsus to grow capability and develop technology to solve new problems. In particularly, using modelling, advanced data analytics, machine learning and software we have been able to drive real value from digital technology. This is enabling the strategic machines that we develop to become more intelligent and provide solutions to increasingly complex challenges.

Richard Laycock - CFO

After qualifying and spending the early part of his career at global accountancy firm Arthur Andersen, Richard has spent over 20 years in senior management and C-suite level positions, driving growth in some of the UK's most significant businesses including FTSE 250 Stobart Group. His sector experience includes Renewable Energy, Aviation, Logistics and Civil Engineering. His experience is a key pillar of our next stage of growth.
