Altcoins can be created with a variety of purposes in mind, and can be used to power decentralized applications, or DApps. There are a variety of altcoins available, with new ones being created all the time... Some of the most popular altcoins include Litecoin, Ethereum, and Bitcoin Cash. These altcoins are all based on the bitcoin protocol, but have been modified in various ways. For example, Litecoin has a shorter block time than bitcoin, and Ethereum uses a different hashing algorithm.
