Born and raised in Miami, I am a first generation immigrant from Colombia. From an early age i've had a passion for the arts. Painting, drawing, sculpting, and dancing took up the larger half of my childhood. As I began to mature I became curious about the way our minds work, which led me to study Psychology at Colorado College - I graduated in the top 5% of my major... As I learned about the different mental health related issues that exist in our world, I found myself constantly devising solutions for these problems. I realized that treating these issues on an individual level by becoming a therapist was not the best use of my innate ambition. I wanted to understand why these issues exist, which drove me into my passion for research... Soon after, I had the opportunity to gain first hand experience in scholarly research with leading feminist psychologist, Dr. Tomi-Ann Roberts.
