A 4th generation builder that has grown up in the construction industry, Ben is the Executive Vice President at BCS. From 2004-2009, he took a step away to serve in the United States Marine Corps. Ben has taken this experience and drive and brought it back to the construction industry in Austin. Ben is an inventor at heart and loves problem solving. He is an accomplished welder, fabricator, and inventor. Due to this, he spends most of his time thinking "outside of the box". This innovation has helped BCS advance in tactics and technology at a rate above industry standard. ​In his free time he enjoys spending time with his family, fabricating, fishing and bird hunting.

Carlos Garcia

Born in Cuernavaca, Morelos, México, Carlos is one of the most experienced builders that BCS, or anyone, will ever meet. Carlos began in construction in the late 1990's with Constructors and Associates, where he first worked with Sonny and Joel (BCS's founders). Like our other general superintendents, Carlos began work as a laborer and quickly graduated into a leadership position. Carlos loves to build and has worked on some of the most challenging and intricate jobs in BCS's history. Not only does Carlos enjoy working for BCS because of the work, he is also family to BCS. He believes that working alongside his brothers Joel and Beto speak to the family-focused culture of the company Outside of work, Carlos enjoys spending time at the ranch building and working with horses. Carlos is a passionate outdoorsman, and also loves spending time with his wife and daughter.

Cesar Hernandez

Cesar has been with BCS since March 2022, before his time here he worked as Assistant Project Manager for a Subcontracting Drywall Company. Originally from Diboll, TX Cesar has a Bachelor's degree in Construction Science Management from Texas State University. He has been in the Austin area for four years and has made Kyle, TX his home. When away from BCS Cesar can be found supporting the Houston Texans at football games or hunting and fishing.

Colorado Tower

BCS was commissioned to help in the construction of the corporate office tower at 300 Colorado in Austin. It is located at the corner of 3rd Street and Colorado Street. The tower consists of 32 stories, a total of 800,000 SF, and 358,000 rentable square feet with a 23,000 SF footprint. 300 Colorado features appealing amenities that include an outdoor and fitness center and were attractive enough for Tiktok's new headquarters. BCS's team worked to create this massive project, constructing an impressive double-helix style parking garage and wide-body pans throughout the entire building. BCS's work is now a staple of the skyline and overlooks the south side of Lady Bird Lake, where visitors can look up and see the building.

David Penney

David was born and raised in the Salt Lake City, Utah area. Here, he attended Weber State College and The University of Utah. After graduation, David got to Texas as fast as he could and has been in the Central Texas area since. To date David has over 40 years of commercial construction experience. David is the senior estimator at BCS. Some notable projects he has estimated and been awarded are Scott & White Marble Falls, Pflugerville and Round Rock Hospitals, Belmont Village Westlake, the Archer Hotel, 801 Barton Springs, Aspen West, The Tyndall, Plaza Saltillo, 300 Colorado, and 2400 Seton. Outside of work, David enjoys fishing, hiking, skiing, and grilling. He loves traveling to wilderness destinations and playing with the grandkids.

Israel Galvan

Israel is a project manager at BCS with abundant experience in concrete construction. Specializing in commercial paving and tilt-up type jobs, among others, Israel is a valuable member to BCS's diverse management team. A native of Monterrey, Mexico, Israel graduated with an architecture degree from the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon prior to beginning his construction career in the United States in 2005. ​In his spare time, Israel enjoys admiring art and the story that it tells, and spending time with his family.

Jeff Psencik - CFO

Jeff is a CPA and has over 30 years of experience in the construction industry. This includes 15 years in Public Accounting auditing the books and records of construction companies. He also worked two years for the FDIC as a Investigations Specialist primarily focused on claims against CPA firms. Raised in Eagle Lake, Texas and graduating from Southwest Texas State University with a BBA in Accounting, Jeff began his career with an accounting firm in the Houston area. After 15 years in public accounting and two years with the FDIC, he moved to the industry side as the controller for a local construction company. Since that move, he had been the controller for two different construction companies for 7 and 9 years, respectively, prior to relocating to the Austin area and joining BCS Concrete Structures in February 2020. He has been married to his bride since 1989 and has two sons that support themselves. He enjoys watching baseball and football. He no longer participates in these activities since he is old and usually pulls something. He is trilingual, speaking fluent English, American and Bullshit. When he is not at work he enjoys…..oh hell, he is always at work because nothing else exists besides ACCOUNTING!!!!

Joel Garcia - COO

Joel Garcia has been involved in the construction industry for 30 years. Starting in the field as a carpenter, Joel quickly moved up in rank through hard work and exemplary knowledge of construction practices. He went to work for Constructors and Associates in 1997 where he and Sonny originally teamed up. After 7 years, Joel and Sonny decided to leave Constructors and Associates together to found BCS Concrete Structures. Since BCS was founded, Joel has been responsible for all field operations. His wealth of knowledge of building has trickled down to through all of BCS's superintendents and separated many field operations from the competition.

Leonel Perez

Leo was born in Luvianos, Mexico, and started working with his father as a laborer in 2005 at the age of 15. He has worked his way up through the ranks as a carpenter, lead man, foreman and superintendent to get to where he is today. In Leo's career since 2005, he has experienced, and led, all types of concrete construction, including foundations, tilt walls, precast, and elevated cast-in-place. Since stepping into a general superintendent position, Leo has been overseeing upwards of 10 jobs at any given time. Not only is Leo a great leader in the field, but he is also a great leader at home. Leo is the father of 6 children and a loving husband to his wife. Leo is also bilingual in both English and Spanish. In his personal time, Leo likes going to the beach, hiking, and spending time outdoors with his family.

Leopoldo Grimaldo

Leopoldo has been with BCS since January 2022, with a background in construction and previous employment at Hensel & Phillips; he decided on a career change and choose BCS. Leopoldo has 5 years of experience in safety and conducts multiple trainings for our team members. You can catch Leopoldo at one of our many jobsites conducting training and inspecting jobsites. On Leopoldo's free time he spends time with family or working on his project truck restoration.

Rachel Behne

Rachel is one of our newest Project Managers, she started at BCS as an Intern in May 2022 and worked closely with our Sr. Project Manager Sam Ibrahim, she is also apart of the US Armed Reserves and has completed 1 deployment. Rachel has recently accepted employment with BCS full-time. Rachel is a Texas raised native form Panama. She is currently attending Texas State University for a degree in Construction Science Management. In the short period of time that Rachel has been with BCS she has shown great leadership skills and continues to learn from BCS.

Rafael Lopez

Rafael is from Muzquiz, Coahuilla, Mexico and has been in construction since February of 1998. Rafa started work in the concrete construction industry as a laborer where he decided he wanted to turn it into a career. He progressed very quickly through the ranks into a superintendent role. As a superintendent, Rafa has traveled across Texas and the United States to run work. He has been with BCS since 2012 and has been on some of the most successful jobs in the company's history.

Reed Boyd

Reed Boyd has called Austin his home since attending The University of Texas in 1999. At UT, he was a four-year letterman in football and earned a bachelor's degree in Finance. Working his way through the construction industry over the years, Reed has held the positions of field engineer, superintendent, project manager, and construction manager. During this time, he has grown his expertise in commercial, retail, restaurants, healthcare, and industrial construction. He is currently a project manager for BCS Concrete Structures. His diverse background and intricate knowledge complement his ability to effectively manage any project. Reed brings a unique skillset and refreshing view to BCS through his prior work across all fields in the industry. "I am approaching the four year-mark with BCS as a Project Manager. Before working at BCS, I served as an owner's representative for a local developer and with General Contractors. I was both a Superintendent and Project Manager and enjoyed the relationships that I developed. I have a degree in finance and football from the University of Texas and I started my journey with BCS because of Sonny Horton. In the past three years, I am proud to say that I have worked on the largest project in BCS history. My favorite part about being at BCS is cultivating our relationships with General Contractors and using my knowledge to help them make their projects a success." Sam Ibrahim

Sam Ibrahim is a project manager at BCS. He graduated from the University of Texas, Austin with a degree in Civil Engineering and was hired by the California Department of Transportation (CALTRANS) as a junior engineer. While at CALTRANS, he attended Cal-State Fullerton and obtained a master's degree in construction management. After graduation, Sam worked for 3 years overseas at an architectural firm as a project manager. When he returned to Austin, he worked at BCS for 8 years as the first project manager beginning in 2006. In 2014, he moved to Seretta Construction where he became the VP of Texas operations. After 5 years at Seretta, Sam came back home to BCS. He has completed a wide variety of projects, including high-end residential, heavy civil, elevated commercial, and tilt-up structures. Sam is native to Lebanon and enjoys spending time and communicating with his family back home. He is trilingual, speaking fluent English, French, and Arabic. Sam also loves hunting and spending time outdoors outside of work. Sonny Horton - CEO

Richard (Sonny) Horton has been involved in the commercial construction industry for over 30 years. Sonny is a third generation carpenter from Houston, Texas who moved to Austin to find work in the late 1980's. He began working with Constructors and Associates shortly after the move as a Superintendent where he met his future partner, Joel Garcia. Sonny worked with Constructors and Associates for 16 years, finishing his time there as General Superintendent. In this position, he completed numerous high-profile jobs, including a remodel to the Texas Capital building and ground-up construction of the Frost Bank Tower in downtown Austin. In 2004, he finally gave in to the entrepreneurial bug and founded BCS Concrete Structures. In his spare time, you will find Sonny on the water or in the field. He enjoys spending time in Rockport, Texas chasing trout and redfish and looking for big deer at the ranch in South Texas. Sonny loves spending time with his wife and 5 kids outside of work as well.

Todd Smith

Born in St. Cloud, Minnesota, Todd Smith moved to Texas in 1990 while serving in the military. After his time in the 82nd Airborne Division, Todd entered construction safety full time in 2005 with Slater Painting. In 2021, he made the move to BCS and is now the Vice President of Safety/Human Resources and is responsible for hiring, growing the BCS Safety Culture, and providing safety training for BCS employees. Todd is a bilingual OSHA Outreach Trainer. Todd has also been a faculty member for Austin Community College's Building Construction Technology program for six years. Todd is current co-chairman of the American Society of Safety Professionals Construction Practice Specialty Practice which he co-founded with White Construction's Corporate Safety Director, John Bratloff. In June 2022, Todd will be presenting at the ASSP National Conference in Chicago on two topics: The Five Greatest Challenges of Training Hispanic Workers and his latest book Creating Symbiotic Safety. Todd spends his off time with his wife traveling to Latin America and visiting their four grown children across North America.
