BULUBA HOSPITAL

St Francis Hospital Buluba, commonly known as Buluba Hospital, has been a general hospital since 2003. Previously known as St Francis Leprosy Centre, it started as a leprosarium in the pre-dapsone era and has been involved in the changes in leprosy treatment and control approaches since then. It has a histopathology laboratory, a footwear workshop and a training centre which have been in existence since the 1950s... We provide health care that responds to individual preferences, needs and values. We emphasise humility to our patients... St. Francis Hospital, Buluba was established in 1934 by Mother Kevin of the Franciscan Missionary Sisters as a leprosy treatment, care and rehabilitation center. Due to the changing times and the demand for Quality and affordable health services from the community, the hospital progressively incorporated general health care services to its functions in 2003 and became a general hospital. The hospital has a bed capacity of 120 beds
