Dr Michael D. Spencer VR

Michael Spencer graduated in 1986 from University College, London with a first class honours degree in chemistry. In 1990, he obtained his PhD in mechanistic organic chemistry, also from UCL, and joined Bromhead & Co. He was awarded a Centenary Bursary from the Chartered Institute of Patent Agents in 1990, and in 1991 obtained the Certificate of intellectual Property Law from Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of London. Michael qualified as a Registered Trade Mark Attorney in 1992, a European Patent Attorney in 1993, a Chartered Patent Attorney in 1994 and a Chartered Chemist in 1995. He became a partner of Bromhead & Co. in 1995, and a founding partner of Bromhead Johnson in 2004. He handles chemical and mechanical patent work and trade marks. He is a member of INTA and of AIPPI. Michael is a Freeman of the City of London.

Marine graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, physics and health from the University of Toulouse III Paul Sabatier, and, in 2013, with a Master's degree in biochemistry and biotechnology, with speciality in Intellectual Property, from the University of Toulouse I Capitole. She was awarded a Diploma in patents, trade marks and designs from the Centre for International Intellectual Property Studies (CEIPI) in Strasbourg, in 2014. Marine has been with the firm since 2015 and achieved the Post-Graduate Certificate in Intellectual Property Law from Queen Mary University of London in 2016. She qualified as a Chartered Trade Mark Attorney in 2019, an Irish Registered Trade Mark Agent in 2021 and a European Patent Attorney in 2022. Marine is a professional representative before the EUIPO. She is fluent in English and French. Marine is President of and manages Bromhead Johnson Europe SAS in Toulouse. She is member of AIPLA.

Ross T. Manaton

Ross Manaton graduated in 1987 from St Catharine's College, Cambridge with an honours degree in Natural Sciences (with specialisation in chemistry). He qualified as a Registered Trade Mark Attorney in 1991, a Chartered Patent Attorney in 1992 and a European Patent Attorney in 1993. He was awarded the Chartered Institute of Patent Agents' Moss Prize in 1989. Ross joined J.Y. & G.W. Johnson in 1994, becoming a partner in 1995 and subsequently a founding partner of Bromhead Johnson in 2004. He handles chemical and mechanical patent work and trade marks. He is a member of ECTA.

William B. Hanson

Bill Hanson graduated in 1990 from Imperial College, London with BEng (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. He qualified as a European Patent Attorney in 1996 and as a Chartered Patent Attorney in 1999. He was awarded the Chartered Institute of Patent Agents' Drafting Prize in 1995. Bill joined J.Y. & G.W. Johnson in 1995, becoming a partner in 2000 and subsequently a founding partner of Bromhead Johnson in 2004. He became a Chartered Trade Mark Attorney in 2018. Bill's area of practice includes the preparation and prosecution of patent applications in the electrical, electronic, mechanical and general fields and obtaining registered trade marks. He also handles oppositions to European patents and advises on post-grant issues such as infringement. He is a member of LES.
