As an indigenous artist, I use a variety of mediums that includes wood, stone, paint, and canvas. I spend a lot of time with my family and friends enjoying the land that the creator gifted us with. This includes fishing, hunting, boating, hiking, snowshoeing, traditional food preparation, and many of the community activities that go with it... I bring my experiences with being on the land, water, and forest in Northwestern Ontario, Canada (Nishnawbie Aski) to my artwork. The relationship we have with the land is a healing and spiritual one. I try to show the lessons I've learned from this relationship into my artwork. I've had many teachers in my lifetime that have taught me about the land and our traditions as Anishinabie people. These teachings are what I share with my own family as well.
