Allanna Kelsall - CHRO

Allanna Kelsall was appointed to Brighter Super's newly created Chief People Officer role in October 2022. Allanna is responsible for developing the overarching people strategy for the newly combined organisation while ensuring the employee experience aligns with and enables the delivery of Brighter Super's brand promise to its members to be ‘right by your side'. Allanna has held executive leadership roles across people, strategy, customer experience, marketing, communications, risk and audit functions in both the commercial and not-for-profit sectors in Australia, USA, Canada, UK, Philippines and Korea for over 25 years. Her most recent role was at St Vincent's Health Australia, where she was the Executive General Manager, People and Culture, which she commenced at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Allanna's rich experience, both domestically and internationally, across strategy, leadership and merger integration will play an integral role in the coming years of transformation for our organisation. This experience, combined with her long-held belief (and passion) that 'your brand is a promise, a promise that can only be delivered by your people', aligns perfectly with the journey that we are on at Brighter Super. Allanna studied for her Bachelor of Business in Human Resources, Marketing and Law at Southern Cross University.

Bryan Ingram - Secretary

Bryan Ingram joined LGIAsuper in April 2022 as Deputy Company Secretary and was appointed to the Executive Leadership Team as Company Secretary in July 2023. Bryan has over 23 years of experience in the financial services industry as a business and finance executive, governance leader, Chartered Accountant and Board Trustee. His key responsibilities at Brighter Super include the implementation and maintenance of good corporate governance practices at all levels. Bryan's previous role was Head of the Office of the Superannuation Trustee for Suncorp Portfolio Services Limited (SPSL), responsible for providing governance, oversight and strategic support to the SPSL Board, ensuring members' best interests were the primary focus. Bryan's qualifications include a Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Accounting and an Auditing Specialism Diploma. Bryan is a Member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Craig Gordon

Craig's 24yrs leadership across the Education and Finance industry means he looks at advice from a behavioural perspective. This means great member conversations to assist members work out what they want to achieve regarding their needs; as an example it's about what members picture themselves doing in retirement and working together to make these achievable goals. This is followed up with understandable advice to assist members into their financial futures.

Daniel Peut

Daniel Peut - DipSup, JP (Qual) Business Development Manager Daniel has been in the superannuation industry for over a decade, working for one of Australia's largest super funds across all facets of fund operations. His approach is heavily focused on putting members' interests first, which includes ensuring that financial advisers have the right tools to deliver the best outcomes for those members. Daniel holds a Diploma of Superannuation and is a Justice of the Peace (Qualified). He enjoys riding his motorcycle, photography, watching any kind of motorsport (especially F1) and playing guitar.

Darshil A. Shah

Darshil has over 10 years' experience in the finance industry as an adviser. He made Australia his home since 2009. His most recent experience has been working for one of Australia's largest superfunds as a successful Intra fund adviser for about 4 years.

Garnett Hollier - CFO

Garnett Hollier was appointed to the Executive Leadership Team in 2018. Garnett has been with the fund for over ten years. Garnett is responsible for Brighter Super's Finance, Tax, Financial Planning and Analysis, and Investment Operations functions. He oversees the financial affairs of Brighter Super and ensures that the fund is meeting all its legislative and reporting requirements. Garnett holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) Degree, a Graduate Diploma in Accounting, a Graduate Certificate in Organisational Leadership, and a Diploma in Financial Advising. He is a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.

Greg Hallam

Greg Hallam was appointed in September 2020. He is the retired former long-term CEO of the Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ) and has more than 30 years' experience. Greg was a Chair and Deputy Chair on several boards, including the National Packaging Covenant Council, Racing Queensland, Queensland Music Festival, Sporting Wheelies, and Local Government Mutual Services. He holds an undergraduate degree in Commerce and Economics, and post-graduate qualifications in Economics, Business Administration and Corporate Communications. Greg was awarded the Member (AM) of the General Division of the Order of Australia in 2018 for his contribution to Local Government Sport & Disability, the National Emergency Medal in 2012, the Olympic Council's Committees Merit Award in 2005, the Public Service Medal in 2000, and the Centenary Medal in 2001.

Henry Capra

Henry was appointed on 1 June 2023 following the successor fund transfer of the SPSL Master Trust. Henry is a Chartered Accountant, holds a Bachelor of Economics and has more than 32 years of board, senior management, operational and finance experience in the financial services industry. Henry is a director of SPSL Limited, the former trustee of the SPSL Master Trust and is also Chair of Brighter Investment Services Pty Limited, Chair of CBHS Corporate Health Pty Limited, Chair of the Advisory Board of Onni Pty Limited, a member of the Audit & Risk Committee of Multicultural NSW, member of the Audit & Risk Committee of the Parliament of NSW and a member of the Audit & Risk Management Committee of the Bureau of Health Information.

James Gyton

James Gyton was appointed to Suncorp Portfolio Services Limited's (SPSL) Executive Leadership Team in 2016 and is the former Executive General Manager of Suncorp's Wealth business. James was appointed as the Chief Operating Officer for the SPSL business when LGIAsuper acquired SPSL on 1 April 2022. He became Brighter Super's Chief Transformation Officer in October 2022, overseeing Brighter Super's program delivery capability. With nearly 25 years in the financial services industry, James brings broad operational management and project delivery experience spanning superannuation, wrap platforms, investment management, financial advice and private clients/trusts. Prior to joining Suncorp's Wealth business in 2015, James worked with MetLife, Asteron, Perpetual, and Rubik Financial. He has also been a member of the Financial Services Council's Superannuation Board Committee since 2017. James is skilled at streamlining business operations and has experience across retail and industry funds. His depth of product, system and fund rationalisation experience supported the integration of SPSL into Brighter Super in 2023.

Jennifer Thomas

Jennifer Thomas was appointed on 1 July 2021 when LGIAsuper and Energy Super merged. Jennifer had been an Energy Super director since October 2017. Jennifer is the Executive President of the Australian Municipal, Administrative, Clerical and Services Union Queensland (Services and Northern Administrative) Branch and the Queensland Services, Industrial Union of Employees (The Services Union). Jennifer's current roles include Vice President of the Queensland Council of Unions and National Vice President and Executive Committee member of the Australian Services Union and Director on the Jobs Queensland Board. Jennifer has a Commerce degree.

Jodie Marquardt BFinPlan

Jodie has been a member of the financial planning community since 2006. After initially working for a large Australian Financial Services Licensee, Jodie commenced working as a paraplanner/associate supporting a team of financial advisers, to develop her technical knowledge. She was subsequently selected by a ‘big four' bank to complete a financial planning professional development program as one of only thirteen participants nation-wide before being appointed into her first advice role.

John Smith

John Smith was appointed in 2013. He was elected Chair of the Board in December 2016. John is a qualified actuary with 40 years' experience providing technical and strategic advice to large superannuation funds and corporations. John is a former Director and Consulting Actuary with The Heron Partnership, and has served as Director, Executive Director and Senior Consulting Actuary for other organisations within the finance industry.

Kate Farrar - CEO

Kate Farrar was appointed as LGIAsuper's Chief Executive Officer in April 2018, and was nominated to continue her role leading our merged fund from 1 July 2021. Kate has 30 years' experience in leadership roles across the finance and energy sectors. Kate's previous roles include Managing Director of QEnergy, Chief Operating Officer at Ergon Energy Retail, and senior positions at Morgans Stockbroking, Your Entire Super Solutions, Barclays de Zoete Wedd, and Suncorp Investment Management. Prior to joining LGIAsuper, Kate was a Junior Partner (equivalent) at McKinsey & Company, and she is a Non-Executive Director with the listed Seven Group Holdings. Kate holds a Bachelor of Music (Honours) Degree and a Masters Degree in Econometrics and Finance. She is a graduate of INSEAD's Advanced Management Programme and the AICD's Company Directors' course.

Lisa Kay

Lisa Kay was appointed to Energy Super's Executive Leadership team in April 2017. Lisa was appointed as Chief Experience Officer when LGIAsuper and Energy Super merged on 1 July 2021. With a combination of 25 years' experience in the financial services industry coupled with her knowledge in superannuation and financial planning, she brings years of experience in client management and wealth creation to the Executive team. She has a healthy obsession with customer experience and focuses on delivering outstanding engagement with members. Lisa's qualifications include a Graduate Certificate in Executive Management and Development, Organisational Leadership, and General Manager Program (all from the Australian Graduate School of Management at UNSW), and Diploma of Financial Planning (RG146).

Mark Jamieson

Mayor Mark Jamieson was appointed in July 2018. He is the current Mayor at Sunshine Coast Regional Council, and President of the Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ). Mayor Jamieson also sits on the Board of Directors for the Council of Mayor's South East Queensland. Prior to his first election as Mayor of the Sunshine Coast Council in 2012,

Mark Rider - Chief Investment Officer

Mark Rider was appointed as Chief Investment Officer in February 2022. Mark has over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry. He is responsible for the delivery of investment outcomes across Brighter Super's range of superannuation investment options and for managing the Investments team. Mark started his career at the Reserve Bank of Australia and was a winner of its prestigious postgraduate scholarship. He has worked in various leadership roles, including as the Australian Chief Economist for UBS Investment Bank, the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) for wealth and private banking at ANZ, and as the CIO of Christian Super. During his previous role at Christian Super, Mark oversaw a team that delivered a significant improvement in investment performance, leading the fund to be ranked fifth nationally by SuperRatings for its returns in 2021. At Brighter Super, Mark has led the fund to have the highest return for a Queensland industry fund and the fifth highest return nationally for its MySuper option, according to SuperRatings for the 12 months to the end of June 2023. Mark's qualifications include: Master of Science (Economics) and Bachelor of Economics.

Michelene Collopy

Michelene was appointed on 1 June 2023 following the successor fund transfer of the SPSL Master Trust. Michelene holds a Bachelor of Economics degree from the Australian National University and is a Chartered Accountant. Michelene also holds Financial Planning Accreditation from Deakin University, is a Financial Planning Specialist with the Institute of Chartered Accountants and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Michelene is Chair of SPSL Limited, the former trustee of the SPSL Master Trust, and is also a Pro-Chancellor with the University of Technology Sydney, a member of their Finance Committee and Chair of their Audit & Risk Committee, an Employer Director of NGS Super Pty Limited, a member of their Investment Committee and Chair of their Risk Audit & Compliance Committee, a Director of Household Capital Limited, a Non-Executive Director of St Ignatius College Riverview Limited and Member of their Bursary Committee. Michelene is also a member of the Compliance Committee of Beta Shares Limited and the Investment Committee of Perpetual Private.

Nicky Leis

Nicky Leis - AdvDipFP Business Development Manager Nicky has over 17 years' experience in the financial advice industry, including 12 years as a specialist life insurance financial adviser. Nicky is passionate about members having access to suitable and affordable advice options, and enjoys working with financial planning practices to help deliver this. Nicky holds an Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning. Outside of work, you'll often find Nicky running around Brisbane training for her next marathon as she works her way to completing the six World Majors, or otherwise relaxing by playing piano.

Peter Scott

Peter Scott was appointed in January 2023. He has over 25 years' experience in executive management in Local Government and the Energy sectors. In April 2023 Peter was appointed Acting CEO of Energy Queensland and reappointed to the Boards of Energex Limited, Ergon Energy Corporation Limited and other Energy Queensland subsidiary companies. Prior to that Peter served as the CFO/Executive General Management Finance and acting CEO (June 2019 to March 2020) of Energy Queensland and was a director of Energex Limited, Ergon Energy Corporation Limited and other Energy Queensland subsidiary companies until December 2022. Peter holds a Diploma of Business, Bachelor of Business, Master of Professional Accounting and Master of Business Administration. He is a Fellow Certified Practicing Accountant and graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Randike Gajanayake - CTO

Randike Gajanayake was appointed to Brighter Super's Executive Leadership team as Chief Technology Officer in August 2022. Prior to that, Randike was the Head of Data Analytics and Performance at LGIAsuper since August 2019. Randike is responsible for the development and implementation of Brighter Super's technology vision and strategy, which consists of the IT, Data and Analytics, Omnichannel, and Cyber and Information Security strategies and roadmaps. Randike provides strategic direction and guidance to the technology leadership team to deliver solutions that enhance the fund's operations and creates real value for its members. Prior to joining LGIAsuper, Randike worked across industries such as Health Care, Government Administration, Utilities, and Higher Education as a technology consultant and a researcher.

Ray Burton

Ray Burton PSM was appointed in July 2018. He is a former Director of Local Government Managers Australia (Queensland) and has more than 27 years' experience as a CEO in local governments across Queensland and Victoria. He is a Director of Globe Hold Co. Pty Ltd. Ray holds a Master of Business Administration, Graduate Diploma in Local Government Management, and Diplomas of Business (Local Government and Accounting). Ray is also a graduate of the AIST Advanced Trustee Director Course. He was CEO at Townsville City Council from 2008 to 2016 and was awarded the Public Sector Professional of the Year (Queensland) in 2012 and was awarded the Public Service Medal in 2015. Ray is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Rayya Afkhami

Rayya is a highly skilled, professional and driven Financial Adviser with over 15 years' of practice experience. During this time, she has dedicated herself to providing clients with ethical and goals-based advice, and she is focused on helping clients achieve financial security and freedom. She is invested in the success her clients achieve, based on the advice she provides, which is focused on putting them in a better position prior to seeking advice. Rayya has built her career on success through service and Financial Planning is her craft.

Ronald Dewhurst

Ron Dewhurst was appointed in June 2018. He has extensive experience in board and senior executive roles in Australia and overseas. Ron is a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australia.

Sean Cogman

Sean Cogman - AdvDipFS(FP), Cdec Senior Business Development Manager Sean has over 20 years' experience in financial services, working with advisers on superannuation and pension strategies for their clients. Sean holds an Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning and is qualified as a Commissioner for Declarations. Sean is a football tragic, and when he's not kicking the round ball around, he'll be busy watching the Spurs.

Sean Marteene - COO

Sean Marteene was appointed to Energy Super's Executive team in August 2018. Sean was appointed as LGIAsuper's Chief Transformation Officer when LGIAsuper and Energy Super merged on 1 July 2021 and then Chief Operating Officer on 1 October 2022. Sean has over 17 years' experience in the superannuation industry with leadership roles covering all facets of superannuation including product development, account management, operations and customer experience. Sean's previous role was with Aon as a Senior Consultant covering areas of customer insights, customer experience and product development. Sean is passionate about understanding customers and developing products and services utilising human-centred design frameworks. Sean's qualifications include: Masters of Applied Finance, Graduate Diploma of Financial Planning, and Diploma of Superannuation Management.

Shawn Chan - Chief Risk Officer

Shawn Chan was appointed as Chief Risk Officer in October 2019, having joined the fund as Head of Risk in October 2018. His responsibilities include implementation of Brighter Super's risk and compliance management frameworks, managing regulatory change and relationships with Brighter Super's regulators, development of risk culture, and reporting to the Board and Risk and Compliance Committee. Shawn has over 20 years' experience in legal, risk and financial services compliance. Prior to joining LGIAsuper, Shawn held various risk and compliance roles in banking and investment management and was previously a financial services lawyer. Shawn holds a Bachelor of Laws from Queensland University of Technology, and a Bachelor of Commerce from The University of Queensland.

Shaylee Crisp

I have been in the financial services industry since 2015 working for a large advice practice before joining Brighter Super.

Steven O'Donoghue

Steven O'Donoghue - CFP®, MBA, MAppFin, GAICD, FFin Head of Advice Steven has a wealth of knowledge with over two decades of industry experience and is passionate about quality advice and helping shape the future of the financial planning landscape. Steven's experience covers financial planning, retail banking, superannuation, credit and mortgage lending, business ownership and structures, sales and marketing, risk and compliance (including design), business transformation, change and project management, and has led multiple and diverse teams. Steven holds a Masters of Business Administration and a Masters of Applied Finance, and is a Certified Financial Planner and graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Steven has also been awarded a Distinguished Services Award by the Financial Planning Association of Australia. Steven keeps busy spending time with his wife, daughter and pets, or watching AFL, playing tennis, fishing or finding his miss hit golf balls.

Steven Wright

Steven has been in the financial services industry since 2009. He has worked in all facets of the financial planning industry including as a Client Service Officer, a Paraplanner, and now as a Financial Adviser.

Teresa Dyson

Teresa Dyson was appointed on 1 July 2021 when LGIAsuper and Energy Super merged. Teresa had been an Energy Super director since July 2017. She is a professional Non-Executive Director with an extensive portfolio of Board positions. She has a Bachelor of Laws (Honours IIA) and is an admitted solicitor in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and the High Court. Teresa has a Masters degrees in both Tax and Applied Finance.
