MIND OVER MATTER COUNSELING - Key Persons

Cheryl DeWitt

I am a master's level mental health practitioner. I have been working in the mental health field for 10 years and in several mental health settings including crisis stabilization, residential treatment, outpatient/clinic, and inpatient hospitalization. have a strong background in assessment to determine level of care/what services might be helpful. I am passionate about helping those struggling with depression, anxiety, self-injury, trauma and specialize in helping those affected by suicide to include individuals experiencing suicidal ideation, individuals affected by a loved one's suicide attempt or death by suicide, and individuals transitioning from a higher level of care (hospitalization) after a recent suicide attempt. My experience has given me insight into the complexities and overwhelming number of anxieties associated with transitioning back to the home setting for everyone involved. As a therapist, I believe the world is full of experiences, positive and negative, which influence who we are. I align strongly with the humanistic perspective of counseling and believe you, the client, to be the expert on your own experience. Therefore, I act as a guide striving to provide a warm and nonjudgmental space to explore experiences deeper and foster growth. At the core of therapy is the therapeutic alliance/relationship. You can expect me to be honest, empathetic, understanding, and human just like you!
