Dr Philip Cohen

Dr Philip Cohen is Division Head, Nuclear Medicine, Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver, and Section Head, Nuclear Medicine, Doctors of BC. He is a pioneer in Nuclear Medicine in Canada and in the usage of 3-D imaging techniques to improve diagnosis of bone disease and injury in collaboration with the Medical Imaging Research Group at University of British Columbia. Dr. Cohen has been involved in clinical research trials of new radiopharmaceuticals. To that effect, Cohen was the first recipient of a research grant from the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation, one of several peer-reviewed awards that would follow.

Dr. Aaron Kirschner

Dr. Aaron Kirschner is a neurologist specializing in traumatic brain injury as well as general neurology. He also has an interest in interventional pain medicine and is currently completing a pain medicine fellowship at the University of Toronto. He completed his neurology training and medical doctorate at McMaster University, serving as chief medical resident. He completed his undergraduate training at The University of British Columbia in cognitive science, followed by a master's degree in neuroscience at Western University where he focused on brain-computer interfaces and online cognitive assessment tools for individuals with acquired brain injury.

Dr. Akil Siva

Dr. Siva is a Physiatrist that specializes in interventional spine and joint medicine and peripheral nerve neurostimulation therapy for pain management. Dr. Siva completed his primary specialty training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at McMaster University. He is dual board certified in PM&R with the Royal College of Physicians of Canada and the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. His PM&R practice includes sports medicine, neuro-musculoskeletal disorders and spasticity management. He also specializes in neurorehab and electrodiagnostics with nerve conduction studies and EMG. Dr. Siva subsequently subspecialized in Pain Medicine, completing a multi-year accredited training program with the Department of Anesthesia at McMaster University and obtained his board certification in the sub-speciality of Pain Medicine with the Royal College of Physicians of Canada. Dr. Siva's primary area of interest and focus is on X-ray guided and Ultrasound guided interventional management therapies.

Dr. Amer Ghavanini

Dr. Amer Ghavanini is a Neurologist and Neuromuscular Disorders Subspecialist. He completed medical school at Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, PhD in Neurosciences at the University of British Columbia, post-doctoral research fellowship in Neuropharmacology at the University of British Columbia and Clinical-Research fellowship at the Western University. He is a prolific author of basic and clinical neuroscientific articles. He has received numerous academic awards, most notably the American Academy of Neurology Founders Award. He is a clinical assistant professor at the University of Toronto and the Division Head of Neurology at Trillium Health Partners.

Dr. Amir Parsoei

Dr Amir Parsoei attended the University of Toronto for his Undergraduate degree where he studied Neurosciences and Human Biology and became interested in Neurology. He then attended medical school in Saskatoon at the University of Saskatchewan where again he pursued many electives in Neurology and a research project focused on traumatic brain injuries. He then moved to Vancouver to complete his residency training in Neurology at UBC mostly working at VGH. As a general neurologist he is interested in all areas of Neurology.

Dr. Ashu Jain

Dr. Jain is an Emergency Medicine physician based out of Ontario. He completed his medical degree at McMaster University, residency at the University of Toronto and Emergency Medicine fellowship at McMaster University. Dr. Jain is currently an Associate Professor at McMaster University and is a Lecturer at the University of Toronto. His professional interests include quality assurance and developing efficiency and improvements within the hospital system, in addition to helping to develop a continuing medical education curriculum for his local hospital network. Since 2013, Dr. Mansouri has been an Assistant Professor at the University of MB, with the Dept. of Ophthalmology and the Dept. of Internal Medicine (Section of Neurology), and an Adjunct Faculty Member with the Biomedical Engineering Graduate Program. Prior to that, he completed his MD at The Tehran University of Medical Sciences, a PhD in the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery at McGill University, a Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Department of Ophthalmology at McGill University, a Residency (including a term as Chief Resident) with the Section of Neurology at the University of Manitoba, and a Clinical Fellowship in Neuro-Ophthalmology at Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women's Hospital, and Harvard Medical School. He has over 50 peer-reviewed publications, focusing on concussion, migraine, amblyopia and strabismus.

Dr. Dominic Rosso

Dr. Dominic Rosso, Director of Interventional and Diagnostic Neuroradiology at Trillium Health Centre, has performed thousands of specialized procedures since joining in 1998. His expertise has dramatically improved patients' quality of life and saved the lives of many more. Dr. Rosso graduated with his medical doctorate from the University of Ottawa in 1990. A silver medalist winner, he held the second highest overall academic and clinical standing throughout medical school. Following an internship at Ottawa Civic Hospital and a residency in Diagnostic Radiology, he completed two fellowships - one in Interventional and Diagnostic Neuroradiology at London Health Sciences Centre, Ontario and one in Body Magnetic Resonance (MR), Computer Tommography (CT) and Ultrasound Imaging at St. Joseph's Hospital, also in London. A naturally gifted teacher and lecturer, Dr. Rosso has made an important contribution to the medical field through the Professional Association of Interns and Residents of Ontario. He has attended international symposiums and congresses and published in Canadian and American neuroscience journals. At Trillium, Dr. Rosso has been instrumental in bringing about the centralization of vascular services to effectively meet the needs of the area's one million residents.

Dr. Elliott Bogusz

Dr. Bogusz started his medical training on the West Coast completing his Masters in Neuroscience and his MD at the University of British Columbia before moving to the prairies to complete his Neurology training at the University of Alberta. Dr. Iyswarya Mani Bhaskar

Dr. Mani Bhaskar is a general Neurologist with an interest in epilepsy, headache, stroke prevention, movement disorders and cognitive neurosciences. Dr. James Kung

Dr. Kung is a B.C. based Emergency Physician. His interests include trauma and clinical informatics. Of course, as a Vancouver native, he is an avid, skier and mountain biker. He is no stranger to concussions and the other associated injuries one can get when tumbling down a mountain!

Dr. Manu Mehdiratta

Dr. Manu Mehdiratta completed medical school at McMaster University in 2001 and Neurology Residency at the University of British Columbia in 2006. He then completed fellowship training in stroke and cerebrovascular diseases at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Centre (BIDMC) in Boston, Massachusetts and following fellowship served on the faculty in the Division of Cerebrovascular Diseases, Department of Neurology, BIDMC and Harvard Medical School. He is currently a practicing on-call neurologist and sub-specialist at Trillium Health Partners and co-founded the Trillium Brain and Spine Clinic as well as Iscope Concussion and Pain Clinics to better diagnose and treat stroke and traumatic brain injuries. Dr. Mehdiratta is on faculty as a Part-Time Assistant Professor in the Division of Neurology, University of Toronto. He is actively involved in teaching of medical students as well as stroke and concussion related clinical trials and research. His clinical interests include traumatic brain injury, headache and cerebrovascular diseases. He has published numerous articles, papers and book chapters in the area of neurology.

Dr. Randhawa is a developmental optometrist and a member of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development. She has undertaken a residency in vision therapy and advanced training in vision therapy and developmental vision. As a developmental optometrist, she is qualified to to diagnose and treat developmental vision problems such as amblyopia, strabismus, binocular vision dysfunctions, convergence insufficiency, depth perception problems, visual information processing deficits. She also conducts rehabilitation for vision problems resulting from head and brain injuries.

Dr. Navjot Chaudhary, MD, FRCSC, received her medical degree from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. She then completed her Neurosurgery Residency at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario followed by Fellowships in Spine Surgery and CyberKnife Radiosurgery at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. Following Fellowship, Dr. Chaudhary joined the Department of Neurosurgery at Stanford University as a Clinical Assistant Professor from 2015-2019. Upon moving back to Canada, she joined the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of British Columbia in 2019. Dr. Chaudhary is a member of Women in Neurosurgery (WINS), the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS), the Canadian Neurological Sciences Federation (CNSF), and the Canadian Spine Society (CSS). Her clinical interests include traumatic brain injury (with a focus on concussion and headache management), spine trauma, degenerative spine disease, and neuro-oncology. She has co-authored dozens of textbook chapters and research articles.

Dr. Rizek is a neurologist and Movement Disorders subspecialist. He completed his Neurology residency at Western University, and subsequently his clinical fellowship in Movement Disorders at Western University, under the mentorship of Dr. Mandar Jog. He completed his Master's degree in Anatomy and Cell Biology at Queen's University. He is currently staff neurologist/movement disorders specialist at Credit Valley Hospital; Physician Lead, EEG Quality, at Trillium Health Partners; Neurologist in the Huntington Disease clinic at North York General Hospital. He is an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto and Investigator at the Institute of Better Health, Trillium Health Partners. Dr. Rami A. Kamel

Dr. Rami A. Kamel finished his medical degree from Ain Shams University Faculty of Medicine in Cairo, Egypt. He then completed research fellowships at Harvard Medical School and the University of Toronto, where he stayed and finished his anesthesia residency training, earning the Fellowship of the Royal College of Canada. He then went on to complete another residency training at McMaster University in Pain Medicine and earned another Royal College sub-specialist designation. Dr. Kamel enjoys teaching ACLS courses as a faculty at the Sunnybrook Advanced Life Support Program. He is passionate about clinical education and is currently pursuing a Clinician Educator Program formation at McMaster University. He holds a staff appointment at Scarborough Health Network as an anesthesiologist. He also holds the academic appointment of Assistant Professor (Adjunct) at McMaster University Faculty of Health Sciences. Dr. Stephen Brown

Dr. Stephen Brown is a fellowship-trained Anesthesiologist and a Diplomate of the Canadian Academy of Pain Management. He is an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto Department of Anesthesia and Pain Medicine. He has a Bachelor of Science in Medical Biophysics from Western University. He received his medical degree from McMaster University in 1994 and his Royal College specialist designation in Anesthesia from the University of Toronto in 1999. Dr. Brown has 20 years of clinical pain management experience. He spent seven years as Chief of two Departments of Anesthesia and has been responsible for the creation of evidence-based pathways and protocols to enhance acute and chronic pain control. He is currently on Active Staff in the Department of Anesthesia at William Osler Health System where he co-Chaired the Chronic Pain Working Group. In 2015 he received the Ontario Medical Association Section on Anesthesiology's Distinguished Service Award. Dr. Zohar Waisman

Dr. Zohar Waisman is a physician and psychiatrist with extensive experience treating a range of mental and emotional disorders including post traumatic stress disorder, chronic pain, mood disorders, and brain injuries. Dr. Waisman holds a Specialty Certificate in Psychiatry and is currently the only psychiatrist with two Royal College, Subspecialty Certifications in Forensic Psychiatry and Geriatric Psychiatry. He completed his medical degree at McMaster University and his residency training and fellowship at the University of Toronto. Dr. Waisman has over twenty years of education and professional experience. He has held a number of positions including Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist for courts and organizations around the regions of Peel and York, including the Centre for Addictions and Mental Health (CAMH) in Toronto; Psychiatric Non-Economic Loss Assessor for the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB); Panel Member for various boards including the Ontario Review Board and the Consent and Capacity Board.
