Lim Boon Ee

Lim Boon Ee is a partner and the head of the Corporate and Conveyancing practice group in the firm. She graduated from the University of Malaya with an Honour degree in the Bachelor of Laws, with a full scholarship awarded by the Hong Leong Foundation of Hong Leong Group. She was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2015. She is a member of the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) sub-committee of the Malacca Bar for 2020/2021. Also, she is a Registered Patent and Trademark Agent with the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia. Boon Ee has experience in Corporate Real Estate and Intellectual Property matters. She handles the mixed commercial and residential developments in Malaysia and the legal procedures of bank loans. Other than that, she deals with the tenancies, discharge of charge, transfer and charge, deed of gift and foreigner state consents. Her extensive experience in real estate is often sought by individual and corporate property owners and buyers in the secondary property market. As sale and purchase transactions are often complex, she ensures that the clients are properly guided and well informed throughout the process from the beginning of negotiations to handling of keys. On the corporate, she advises on various aspects of corporate and commercial transactions including licensing, joint ventures, partnerships and foreign investments. She can also advise on the legal due diligence for sale and purchase of businesses. She is frequently consulted by clients in various industries such as food and beverages, healthcare and real estate. As a Registered Patent and Trademark Agent, Boon Ee can advise on the drafting of patent claims. She can also assist with the registration, renewal and assignment of patent and trademark. Besides, she can also appear before the Registrar for the hearing of appeal cases. Boon Ee's expertise in various aspects of laws is favourable to the clients. Her ability to provide services at a high proficiency level of spoken and written English, Malay and Mandarin has attracted many clients from Malaysia and overseas, including Mainland China, Hong Kong and Singapore. Before she embarked on the career as a lawyer, she actively participated in the Student Exchange Programme of the Faculty of Law, UM and has the network to many practising lawyers abroad.

Melvin Tay Yee Shian is the firm's founder and Managing Partner. He practises Civil & Criminal Litigation under the tutelage of Dato Amardas s/o Jethanand comprising amongst others of contractual disputes, professional negligence and tortious claims, He was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2015. Thereafter he continues his legal path mainly as civil litigator acting as solicitor and counsel in numerous cases spanning an array of areas including professional negligence, intellectual property disputes, directors' and shareholders' disputes, debt recovery as well as employment matters. Over the years, he has acquired specialist knowledge in those areas of practice and represented various prominent clients, from institutions to individuals. He is also regularly consulted by boards of directors on matters involving directors' duties and shareholders' disputes. In respect to Criminal Law practice, he primarily focused on defence work where he regularly advises and defends individuals and corporations prosecuted for breaches of various penal and regulatory laws relating to, among others, commercial crime cases (including criminal breach of trust, fraud and cheating) Further, he also renders corporate advisory, deal negotiation and drafting of commercial contracts & agreements and is regularly sought by major developers for advice and representation pertaining to Housing Development Laws. Outside of legal works, Melvin is actively involved in BNI Network Group, Extreme Chapter serving as Network Education Coordinator in year 2021. Off hours, he enjoys badminton where he was a former state player for Malacca and currently representing the Malaysian Bar. He is fluent in English and Malay both written and spoken and conversant in Mandarin, Hokkien, Cantonese and Hainanese dialects.
