Andrew Willis

Andrew Willis has over 20 years of experience in international finance, structuring and private equity. He started his professional career as an accountant and was closely involved in advising on corporate, investment and personal financial structuring for business owners and high net worth investors. With pan-European private equity investment manager Candover Investments, Mr. Willis then played a role in closing numerous transactions including a US$300m acquisition of a European based financial publisher and exits including NASDAQ-listed chemical and pharmaceutical companies. Mr. Willis was one of The Pallinghurst Group's founders in 2006 and remains as Executive Chairman. During this period, Pallinghurst has raised and invested almost US$3bn of equity, which has been invested in natural resources projects in Europe, North America, Australia and Africa. Mr. Willis earned a Master of Business Administration from INSEAD as well as a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) in Accounting, and Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Japanese, having studied at the University of Auckland and University of Hiroshima. Mr. Willis is also a member the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) and an Associate of the UK Chartered Governance Institute (CGI).

anoop singh

Anoop Singh, P.Eng. is an accomplished construction and mining executive with 20 years of experience. Anoop holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree from McGill University. Prior to joining NMG, Mr. Singh was Vice President, Strategic Development and Estimating at Bird Construction (previously H.J. O'Connell) where he managed multiple mining accounts over the years for clients such as ArcelorMittal, Rio Tinto, Cliffs, Vale, and Agnico Eagle. From the execution of $100-million-worth projects to Indigenous partnerships and the procurement and risk management of complex projects, Mr. Singh has acquired robust know-how in leading highly technical, timeline-focused contracts in the mining sector. His project portfolio includes new mine construction, reactivation of closed mines, open-pit operations, construction of tailings facilities, and other construction and support activities for several mining companies.

Arne H Frandsen - Chairman

Arne H Frandsen is the Executive Chairman of The Pallinghurst Group. Mr. Frandsen holds an LL.B and Master in Law from Copenhagen University. He has over 10 years of investment banking experience with Goldman Sachs and J.P. Morgan, providing strategic advice and structuring mergers and acquisitions, as well as corporate finance transactions for clients in 30 different countries. In 2005, Mr. Frandsen left investment banking to become the Chief Executive Officer of Incwala Resources, one of South Africa's leading black economic empowerment mining companies. Mr. Frandsen was one of the founders of The Pallinghurst Group in 2006 and has been instrumental in the group's development. In addition, he is Chairman of Nouveau Monde Graphite, as well as a director of Sedibelo Resources Limited and Talon Metals Corp.

Bernard Perron - COO

Bernard Perron, P. Eng, MBA, is a seasoned executive focused on execution of major infrastructure projects, environment, health and safety, and operations services. A senior executive with over 25 years of experience in the energy infrastructure sector, Bernard has successfully completed over $8 billion in projects in the last ten years with industry-leading EH&S performance. Prior to joining Nouveau Monde, Bernard acted as Senior Vice President, Project Development & Operations Services, at Inter Pipeline Ltd., where he led the construction of a $4.1 billion industrial complex and oversaw a team of over 450 employees. Bernard cumulates hands-on project management experience for large facilities and infrastructure across Canada, Africa, and South America. Bernard holds a Master in Business Administration from Queen's University and an Engineering Degree, Materials and Metallurgy from École Polytechnique de Montréal.

Charles-Olivier Tarte - CFO

Charles-Olivier Tarte, CPA, CMA, is a senior executive focused on financial management, strategic planning, administration, and technologies, with over 10 years of operational experience in the graphite industry. Prior to joining Nouveau Monde, Charles-Olivier acted as the Natural Graphite Financial Controller for Imerys Graphite & Carbon. As such, he oversaw the finances of a natural graphite mine, a second-transformation plant and the Company's Americas sales office. Charles-Olivier is a graduate of Université de Sherbrooke where he obtained his Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and Finance.

Daniel Buron

Daniel Buron has been Senior Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer of Domtar since 2004 and has worked in an increasingly important position at the company between 1999 and 2004. Mr. Buron has management oversight and responsibility for all financial functions, including investor relations, financial reporting, financial risks and debt management, treasury operations, taxation, and information technology. Prior to joining Domtar, he held various finance positions with a leading firm in the commercialization and development of IT applications, solutions, and tools as well as with a major international accounting firm. Mr. Buron is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor in Commerce from Université Laval. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the McGill University Health Centre Foundation. Mr. Buron received in 2009 the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors and won in 2012 the "Aces of Finance" award from the Finance Executives International Canada.

Dr. Jürgen Köhler

Dr. Köhler was formerly the CEO of SGL Carbon, one of the world's leading advanced graphite materials companies. Based in Wiesbaden, Germany, he was responsible for approximately 5,000 employees and over 30 operating plants globally. SGL Carbon is a supplier of graphite and composite materials for the automotive, aerospace, solar, wind energy industries, as well as for manufacturers of semiconductors, LEDs, and lithium-ion batteries. Before becoming the CEO of SGL Carbon, he worked for more than a decade as a senior chemical engineer and Department Leader for the company. Among his many roles, he was responsible for building and operating advanced graphite materials plants in Europe, North America and Asia. Before his time at SGL Carbon, Dr. Köhler worked in the United States for Celanese Corporation as the Director for Manufacturing & Technology. Before that, he worked as a chemical engineer at Hoechst AG, in Frankfurt. Dr. Köhler earned a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering with "summa cum laude" from the Technical University of Munich (TUM).

James Scarlett

James Scarlett was, until last year, the Executive Vice-President and Chief Legal Officer at Hydro One Limited, a leading Canadian electricity transmission and distribution provider. Prior to this, Mr. Scarlett was a Senior Partner at Torys LLP, one of Canada's leading law firms, where he held a number of leadership roles at the firm, including head of Torys' Capital Markets Group, Mining Group and International Business Development strategy. Mr. Scarlett spearheaded public market M&A transactions worth over C$25 billion as well as numerous board mandates, related-party transactions, hostile takeover offers and dissident shareholder actions. In addition, he has experience from over 30 public equity deals. Prior to joining Torys, he was a Senior Partner at Toronto-based McMillan Binch LLP. Jamie was also seconded to the Ontario Securities Commission ("OSC") and was appointed as Director of the Capital Markets Branch of the OSC. Mr. Scarlett earned his law degree (J.D.) from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from McGill University. Mr. Scarlett holds the ICD.D designation.

Jean Cayouette

A graduate of Laval University in mining and metallurgical engineering, Jean Cayouette has over 30 years of experience in the mining industry, in the iron, base metal and precious metal sectors. The design, start-up and optimization of various mineral processing plants have contributed to building a good part of his technical and management experience in the fields of metallurgy, operation, maintenance and environment. Jean also has nearly 10 years of experience as a corporate leader in operational optimization, mine site reclamation and sustainable development initiatives where, most recently, he led a team dedicated to the development and execution of a global climate resiliency action plan.

Josée Gagnon

With more than 25 years of experience in commercial, transactional and risk management law, Josée Gagnon has spent most of her career as a corporate lawyer responsible for legal affairs, governance, corporate secretarial work and board of directors. An experienced leader, she has contributed to the realization of the first PPP projects in Quebec and to major infrastructure projects, notably in the hospital and public transportation sectors. In addition to her extensive experience in public companies, she has participated in several mergers and acquisitions, both in private practice and in companies, playing a facilitating role in the integration of activities. Josée holds an MBA from Hautes Études Commerciales and is a member of the Québec Bar as well as an active member of the California Bar, where she practiced corporate and securities law for several years.

Julie Paquet

With close to 20 years of experience in management, Julie Paquet, MA, has multidisciplinary experience that covers strategic planning, communications/public relations, leadership, stakeholder management and sustainability, servicing major infrastructure and natural resources development projects. Prior to joining Nouveau Monde, Julie spearheaded strategic planning of all communications for one of the most important hospital projects in Canadian history, the McGill University Health Centre. She also led corporate development and reputational initiatives for The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Crown Corporation, and then EACOM Timber Corporation, a forest products company. Julie holds a Masters in Leadership from Royal Roads University in addition to diplomas in Sustainable Business Strategy (Harvard Business School), Corporate Communications (UQAM) and Public Relations (La Cité).

Martine Paradis

Martine Paradis, Eng., PMP, is a geological engineer with over 20 years of experience in mine reclamation, project management, permitting and earth sciences. She has been involved in many critical infrastructures design and fieldwork on mine tailings and mine waste, technology selection, abandoned minesite and for northern mine projects affected by global warming. Her recognized expertise makes her the ideal Engineer of Record and governance leader for tailings management at Nouveau Monde. Prior to joining the Company, Martine provided expertise and directed engineering teams on behalf of SNC-Lavalin for several major projects, acted as Project Manager for the Raglan mine and worked at the Québec Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources as a Senior Engineer and Team Coordinator. Martine holds a Master in Environmental Geochemistry from University Laval and is a certified Project Management Professional. She is also a representative of the industry as a member of the board of directors for the MISA Group niche of excellence (mines, innovations, solutions, applications).

Mr. Eric Desaulniers - CEO, Founder, President

Mr. Eric Desaulniers, MSc, P. Geo, is the Founder, President and CEO of Nouveau Monde Graphite, an ESG-driven company dedicated to developing North America's largest graphite production to supply the battery and EV market with sustainably and ethically transformed advanced materials. Since discovering the world-class Matawinie deposit that launched Nouveau Monde Graphite, Desaulniers has completed the exploration, feasibility, engineering and permitting stages to bring the Matawinie Mine and Bécancour Battery Material Plant to construction. In parallel, he has succeeded in securing a solid shareholder base, recruiting innovative technical leaders to carry out his vision and developing a vertical business model to cover the entire value chain for active anode materials, from all-electric mining to advanced battery materials manufacturing. Prior to launching the company, Eric worked for Sanders Geophysics and the Canadian Armed Forces. Desaulniers holds a bachelor's degree in geology and a master in geophysics from Laval University in Quebec City. A devoted husband and father of four, Desaulniers fully lives his values for a carbon-neutral future. He has been exclusively driving all-electric since 2017! Eric Desaulniers, MSc, P. Geo, is a professional geologist with a specialization in geophysics and integrated 3D earth modelling. He spearheads the corporate development of Nouveau Monde Graphite in direct collaboration with the internal technical team and industry experts. Before discovering the world-class Matawinie deposit that launched Nouveau Monde, Mr. Desaulniers directed ED Exploration, a consulting firm that strived to offer high-level geological and geophysical services to the mineral industry. He also served as Project Manager at Sander Geophysics where he managed numerous international large-scale interpretation and data acquisition projects in the Middle East, Africa and North America for major clients like the British Geological Survey, Saudi Aramco, the Moroccan government, BRGM and Shell. Mr. Desaulniers holds a Bachelor in Geology and a Master in Geophysics from Université Laval.

Nathalie Pilon

A recognized business leader, Nathalie Pilon brings twenty years of experience in heavy industry and manufacturing, and a keen ability to bring people and technology together to drive Canada's innovation ecosystem. Ms. Pilon was President of ABB in Canada and member of the Executive Board of ABB Americas. She has also served as President of Thomas & Betts Canada, and as Senior Manager, Professional Practice for KPMG. She was named one of Canada's Top 100 Most Powerful Women by the Women's Executive Network. In 2015 she received the distinguished Leadership Award by the Association of Women in Finance, and in 2018 she was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from Concordia University for her innovation in business. Ms. Pilon holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from HEC Montréal and is a fellow of the Québec Order of Chartered Professional Accountants (FCPA). She is a board member of HEC Montréal, the CSA Group and the Montréal Port Authority.

During his career, Patrice worked in production, R&D and within the commercial group, in addition to being responsible for sales activities of a product segment. He also led the global customer service group. Patrice holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières and an EMBA from Concordia University.

Philippe Legault

An HR and labour relations professional, Philippe Legault, CRIA, MBA, has an impressive track record of 25 years of consulting and corporate development. After participating in the start-up of one of the largest mines in Canada, he has held positions of increasing corporate responsibility in the natural resources industries. Philippe joined an HR consulting firm as a partner and carried out important mandates in the mining, metallurgy, forestry, and manufacturing sectors. His practice has led him to work across the country, in the United States and for international recruitment files.

Stephanie Anderson

Stephanie Anderson is a finance executive and strategic business partner with a broad range of financial, technical, marketing, market development and Arctic bulk shipping experience gained from over 30 years spent in the mining sector. From her many years in the industry, she has developed a solid foundation of operational and logistics understanding with the ability to identify and drive strategies that combine business and finance. After nearly a decade at Baffinland Iron Mines, most recently as Executive Vice President, Corporate Development, Ms. Anderson retired from the Company. She previously served as Chief Financial Officer from 2011 to 2017 and was part of the original team that developed the Mary River iron ore project located at Nunavut Territory on north Baffin Island, Canada. Ms. Anderson began her career as an exploration geologist with Inco Limited (now Vale) and over a nineteen-year period rose to the position of Vice President & Treasurer, having previously served in a variety of technical, marketing and accounting functions and roles. Prior to joining Baffinland Iron Mines she held the position of Executive Vice President and Financial Officer at Dundee Precious Metals Inc. a Canadian-based international mining company engaged in the acquisition, exploration, and mining of precious metals. Ms. Anderson holds a BSc. Honors Geology from the University of New Brunswick and an MBA (Finance) from the University of Toronto.

Stéphane Imbeault

Stéphane Imbeault cumulates more than 20 years of experience in industrial environments leading complex engineering and construction projects as well as operations for Rio Tinto and Canmec Group in different industrial transformation processes, advanced manufacturing, and energy sectors.
