Niiwin General Partnership Inc. (Niiwin) was founded with a primary desire to create opportunities for economic and business development in the mining sector. In November 2014, Newmont Gold Mines signed a Resource Development Agreement with four First Nation communities (Flying Post, Matachewan, Mattagami and Apitipi Anicinapek Nation). The Resource Development Agreement establishes a framework for continued consultation on existing and future operations in the Timmins area and defines long-term benefits for the four First Nations.
