PATHFINDER INJURY LAW - Key Persons

Bryn Swartz

Job Titles:
  • Attorney
  • Owner
  • Our Founder
Bryn founded Pathfinder Injury Law to pursue his goal to give every client the diligent, attentive service they need in the midst of a work-related injury. Bryn Swartz is the owner of Pathfinder Injury Law, a conscientiously small, boutique Workers' Compensation law firm in Glen Allen. Bryn's entire practice consists of helping people hurt at work in Virginia. He was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia, the son of two musicians and schoolteachers. After dropping out of college to go on tour and make albums with his punk band, he resumed his education at Randolph-Macon College. He graduated in 2008 magna cum laude, in the top seven percent of his class, and with membership in the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. He then attended law school at the University of Richmond School of Law, from which he graduated magna cum laude, in the top eleven percent of his class, and with membership in the Walter Scott McNeill Law Honor Society. Bryn has handled hundreds and hundreds of Workers' Compensation cases through the process of filing claims, conducting discovery, litigating hearings, and pursuing review appeals. He has worked on both claimant- and defense-side of the Virginia Workers' Compensation system. The genesis of Pathfinder Injury Law began when Bryn was laid off from a claimant-side law firm the day his son was born in 2019. He and his wife Mandy Truman Swartz founded Pathfinder sitting in the hospital room while Mandy was recovering from a C-section with a brand new baby boy, nothing to lose, and the whole world to gain. Bryn has built a reputation for giving clients first-class representation with a work product that is second to none, all while wearing shorts and a NORML or mountain biking tee shirt. He firmly disavows the fallacy that one must wear a suit or uncomfortable shoes or have a dumb, self-serious office to be a great lawyer and a fierce client advocate. He is well known amongst his peers as a diligent, resourceful, and…unconventional lawyer. He prefers to do his job while riding his beloved Yeti SB130 mountain bike lost in the woods on the side of a mountain somewhere. Bryn was voted a 2021 Virginia Lawyers Weekly "Go-To Lawyer for Workers' Compensation" and a 2021 and 2022 SuperLawyers Rising Star. He is a member of various professional associations, including the Virginia State Bar and the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association. Outside of law, Bryn loves mountain biking, traveling, eating great food, hanging out with his family and dogs, being a coffee snob, playing drums, and listening to podcasts, audiobooks, and music. Our founder, Bryn Swartz, was born and raised in Richmond. He went to Randolph-Macon College in Ashland and the University of Richmond School of Law. Our firm is in Glen Allen, and we take cases across the state.

Mandy Truman Swartz

Job Titles:
  • Administrator
  • Certified Paralegal
Mandy Truman Swartz is Pathfinder's firm administrator and the strategic brains behind the operation. As if that wasn't enough, she is also currently in law school at the University of Richmond School of Law, where she was admitted on a merit scholarship into the class of 2024. Mandy was born and raised in Mechanicsville, Virginia. Her career in the workers' compensation field began at a very young age with a position at the Virginia Workers' Compensation Commission. She then worked at the Supreme Court of Virginia before returning to the Workers' Compensation Commission and later holding a position as a paralegal at a workers' compensation defense firm in Richmond. This eventually gave way to forming Pathfinder Injury Law with Bryn while the two sat in their hospital room the day their firstborn son arrived in August 2019. Mandy brings years of workers' compensation experience to her work with Pathfinder, including an invaluable perspective on how insurance companies work from her time in the defense field.
