STAR Mutual Risk Retention Group ("STAR") was founded to provide accessible, reliable commercial auto liability coverage to members of Reliable Transportation Association ("RTA") operating transportation and for-hire transportation services including non-emergency medical transportation, taxi, black car, last mile delivery and general trucking services. RTA is a Pennsylvania based association whose primary objective is to alleviate the significant costs of overhead to small companies operating in the transportation sector and provide long-term, stable insurance. RTA members have identified insurance as being single the largest barrier to growing and maintaining their business due to inconsistent application of rating parameters, volatility in rates and the number of stable carriers willing to provide coverage.
