The University of Lunsar was founded by a Sierra Leonean couple, Dr. Sheikh Umarr and Dr. Marie Umar-Kamarah, in 2016. Inspired by the "Wisconsin Idea," the founders believe that the university's existence is predicated upon the conviction that it should improve the lives of those within the community and those around the world. We are dedicated to providing quality and affordable education to students in Sierra Leone and around the globe... The University of Lunsar aims to provide quality and affordable education, inspired by the "Wisconsin Idea," to improve lives in Sierra Leone and globally. It was founded in response to the need for a knowledge-driven economy in the 21st Century and the challenges in Sierra Leone's education system.
