Dr. Ann M. Lafranca

It's a pleasure to meet you. I am Ann Lafranca, MD and I am a Board Certified Obstetrician-Gynecologist. My educational background includes St. Mary's Dominican High School (Summa Cum Laude) in New Orleans, a Bachelor of Science (Summa Cum Laude) from LSU, my Doctorate from LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans, and Residency through Charity Hospital where I served as Chief Resident. My husband and I moved to Baton Rouge in 1993 and have been part of this growing community. Our children have attended St Thomas More, Catholic High, St. Joseph's Academy, and LSU. I have served at Woman's Hospital on the Board of Directors as Chief of Staff, Chief of OB, Chief of Clinical, Member of the Executive Committee, Chairperson for: Medical Review, OB Patient Care, and Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committees, and Member of the Ethics Committee. Currently, I serve on the Credentials Committee and am a Physician Educator developing Simulation Training for OB Emergencies. I participated for 17 years in the District Attorney's Rape Crisis Intervention Team. I am a preceptor for the NP and PA programs in Louisiana and teach LSU Medical School students. I instruct in the God's Own Making program at STM and lector there as well.

Dr. Cindy Schwartzenburg

Dr. Edward Schwartzenburg

Dr. Edward Schwartzenburg graduated from LSU Health Science Center in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1991. He completed an Obstetrics and Gynecology internship and residency through Saint Joseph's Hospital in Houston, Texas. His training included gynecological oncology rotations at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston and obstetrics and gynecology rotations at University Medical Center Brackenridge in Austin, Texas. He received training in general obstetrics and gynecology as well as advanced surgical and infertility treatments. Dr. Schwartzenburg specializes in minimally invasive surgeries including Novasure endometrial ablation and DaVinci robotic-assisted hysterectomy. He has held many leadership positions at Woman's Hospital including Chief of Obstetrics, Chief of Staff, and nine years on the Board of Directors and as Chairman of the Board of Directors. Dr. Schwartzenburg is married to Dr. Cindy Schwartzenburg, a local anesthesiologist. They have three children. They enjoy traveling together as a family and boating in Pensacola, Florida. Dr. Schwartzenburg's other passion involves importing and selling Hungarian wines. He is the owner of Black Castle Vineyard which is a small vineyard in the native country of his father-in-law. Dr. Emily G. Magee

Dr. Magee was born and raised in Baton Rouge, LA. She is a graduate of St. Joseph's Academy high school, and received her undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University. Dr. Magee graduated Magna Cum Laude from the American University of Antigua College of Medicine and completed her OB/GYN residency at LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, LA. Dr. Magee is board-certified and well-trained in all aspects of women's health care. She loves taking care of women from their teenage years, to beyond menopause, and everything in between. Dr. Magee treats both low and high risk pregnancies, and is trained in traditional gynecological procedures, as well as minimally- invasive surgery, including physician-assisted robotic surgery. She is currently a member of the American Medical Association and the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists. Outside of work, Dr. Magee is a devoted wife & proud mother to three sons. She enjoys traveling, baking, & LSU sports.

Dr. Jolie Bourgeois

Dr. Jolie Bourgeois was born and raised in Houston, Texas. She is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Dr. Bourgeois attended Louisiana State University for her undergraduate education. There she graduated Summa Cum Laude and received her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and minored in Chemistry and Psychology. Upon graduation, she attended Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine and earned her degree in medicine. She continued on to the University of Texas Health Science Center at Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Houston Medical Center where she completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology. While not at work, Dr. Bourgeois enjoys hanging out with her husband and three children. Her hobbies include rooting for LSU, reading, cooking, playing tennis, dancing, and keeping up with all of her kids' extracurriculars. She is an alumna of Chi Omega sorority. Dr. Bourgeois specializes in high risk pregnancies, gynecological problems, and is proficient in Physician Assisted Robotic Surgery and Minimally Invasive Surgery. She enjoys taking care of patients from adolescence through menopause and is focused on providing individualized patient care.

Dr. Kathy H. Guidry

Dr. Kathy Guidry received her undergraduate degree from LSU in Baton Rouge and her Doctorate of Medicine from LSU in New Orleans. She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at LSU Charity Hospital in New Orleans and Earl K. Long Hospital in Baton Rouge where she served as Chief Resident. She received training in general and high risk obstetrics and gynecology as well as laparoscopy, fertility and advanced surgery. She is board certified by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Guidry specializes in minimally invasive surgeries including Novasure endometrial ablation and DaVinci robotic assisted procedures. She has held many leadership positions at Woman's Hospital including Chief of Obstetrics in 2001 and 2016, and Chief of Staff in 2019. She also served one year on the Woman's Hospital Board of Directors in 2019. Dr. Guidry also participated for many years in the District Attorney's Rape Crisis Intervention Team as a physician examiner. Dr. Guidry is married to Kevin Guidry. They have two children, Matthew and Emily. Dr Guidry enjoys traveling, hiking, and skiing. She is also a voracious reader and enjoys hand quilting in her spare time.

Dr. Kristin B. Chapman

Dr. Kristin Chapman is a proud native of Baton Rouge and is happy to be home once again! Dr. Chapman graduated from Saint Joseph's Academy in 1995, then attended The College of Charleston in South Carolina. Dr. Chapman earned a Bachelor in Arts in French and spent one year abroad in France. She then returned to LSU in Baton Rouge to complete a Bachelor in Science followed by medical school at LSU in New Orleans. Dr. Chapman then performed her residency at The Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas and served as Chief Resident prior to graduating. Dr. Chapman is now Board certified through the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She has loved working with the Doctors Schwartzenburg, Lafranca, and Guidry and is looking forward to practicing in a beautiful new hospital and office. Dr. Chapman enjoys all realms of women's health care including individualized plans for pregnancy and childbirth. Dr. Chapman encourages the use of natural comfort measures for her patients that prefer non-medicated births including walking, intermittent monitoring, labor tubs, and a light diet. She also accommodates patients who prefer scheduled deliveries. Dr. Chapman also has a particular interest in Infertility, as well as counseling, testing, and treatment for Infertility. She is very knowledgeable about the transitions during menopause and prescribes hormone replacement therapy for menopausal symptoms as well as alternative treatments. Dr. Chapman is skilled with the newest technology available for surgeries such as Robotic Surgery and Endometrial Ablations. Dr. Chapman would be happy to visit with you and customize your care!

Dr. Rachel Gilbert

Dr. Gilbert is a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She attended Louisiana State University for her undergraduate education where she earned a dual degree in psychology and biology. She was awarded her medical degree at William Carey College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Gilbert completed her four-year residency training at Louisiana State University Health Science Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana at Woman's Hospital. She served as Chief Resident from 2022-2023. Dr. Gilbert enjoys all aspects of obstetrics and gynecology, and has a particular interest in minimally invasive and robotic gynecologic surgery. She is passionate about providing evidenced-based education and patient-centered care for women of all ages. She strives to provide each patient with a unique birthing experience tailored to meet their needs. She looks forward to building life-long relationships with her patients and is thrilled to serve in the area in which she grew up in. Her hobbies include traveling, trying new foods, reading romance fiction, LSU football, and spending time outdoors with her daughter and husband.
