Dr. Young-Whan Park brings 30 years of global pre-clinical and clinical drug R&D experience. Dr. Park previously worked as a president of National OncoVenture (NOV), a Korean government funded anti-cancer drug development program, where he directed various stage of clinical programs for cancer treatment and achieved a few global licenses with total values exceeding 1 billion USD worth. Prior to his appointment at NOV, Dr. Park had served as SVP & CSO of Daewoong Pharmaceuticals where he managed about 200 research members working in a number of small molecule and biologic new drug development programs. Before he returned to Korea, Dr. Park worked as a program leader at Merck & Co., at Rahway NJ, USA. During his 15-years of tenure at Merck, he was involved with a few R&D programs including an infectious disease program which became an FDA approved drug in 2019. He received his Ph.D. at Rutgers University, followed by postdoctoral research at UC Berkley. He currently serves as a CEO of Avelos Therapeutics, Inc.
