I grew up in rural Southeast Idaho in a typical middle-class family. My parents certainly did not have a lawyer on retainer to call every time they had a legal question. In fact, growing up, I cannot recall a time that my parents even met with a lawyer. I thought that sort of thing was reserved for the very wealthy in society. And, true to that belief, as I started out in my legal career, I found myself working in a beautiful firm in downtown Boise serving some of those wealthy individuals and companies... It was not until I became a lawyer myself that I realized how important it is for every individual and family to have effective legal planning in place before it is needed - and how easy it is to put that planning off.
