Daniel Kofi Ameley

Prior to setting up D.K. Ameley & Associates in 2002, Daniel worked with the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority - Ghana's statutory public organization mandated to build, operate, maintain and regulate seaports in Ghana - in various capacities, including Chief Legal advisor, Personnel and Administrative Manager and Secretary to the Board. Daniel also worked as a consultant to the Fisheries Department of Ghana's Ministry of Food and Agriculture, where he provided legal advice on the Fisheries Sub Sector Capacity Building. He advised on the content and text of Ghana's Fisheries Law. He also served as a member of a committee of experts to advise on the formulation of the Ghana Shipping Law. Daniel has delivered lectures at several seminars. He delivered a paper titled ‘Maritime liens and the arrest of ships' to judges of Ghana's Superior Courts of Judicature. He also delivered a lecture on ‘Ship Registration, Nationality and Aspects of Admiralty Jurisdiction and Practice in Ghana' to lawyers and law students at the Ghana School of Law, and ‘Ship Registration' to selected distinguished persons at Ghana's Military Academy. In 2019, Lloyd's Maritime Academy, the world's largest provider of professional development and academic education to the maritime industry, invited Daniel to speak at the Ship Arrest Seminar held in London, U.K. He spoke on the theme ‘Jurisdictional advice: Where is best to arrest?- Ghana'. The lecture covered the following topics relative to the Ghanaian jurisdiction: Admiralty Courts, Arrest of ships, Warrant of Arrests, Security for Releases, Letters of Understanding and Appeals in the Arrest of Ships. He was the first ever speaker to be invited to the seminar from sub-Saharan Africa outside of South Africa since its inception. He studied at the University of Ghana, as well as the Ghana School of Law. He holds an LLM from the International Maritime Law Institute, Malta, where he received special recognition by the Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization. He has certificates in Alternative Dispute Resolution and International Arbitration from the International Law Institute in cooperation with Georgetown University, Washington DC, US; Dredging by the International Association of Dredging Companies in conjunction with the National University of Singapore; and Deep Seabed Mining by the International Ocean Institute, Operational Centre, India. Daniel was called to the Ghana Bar in 1983.

Ms. Delphina Naa Amuah Okutu

Ms. Delphina Naa Amuah Okutu is a member of the Ghana Bar. She holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB) from the University of Ghana. Prior to pursuing a career in the area of law, she graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration (Accounting), with First Class Honours at the Valley View University. Upon joining D.K Ameley & Associates, Delphina has had hands on experience and gained expertise in dealing with matters pertaining to labour law, maritime law, family law, land law, corporate and commercial law as well as dispute resolution. The firm's specialty in litigation has afforded her the opportunity to represent clients in court and also negotiate settlements with the opposing side. She has over the years, conducted research in relevant areas of law and proffered legal opinions/advice to both retained and non-retained clients.

Ms. Eyram Asem

Ms. Eyram Asem joined D.K Ameley & Associates in October, 2015 as a Pupil after being called to the Ghana Bar in the same year. She is currently an Associate of the firm and her areas of practice include Maritime and Shipping, Family Law, Labour Law, Company Law, Commercial Law, Criminal Law (Juveniles), Land & Property Law and Conveyancing. Ms. Asem is an ardent legal practitioner and has gained extensive experience in litigation, dispute resolution, opinion writing, legal writing and drafting of conveyances and agreements for individuals and corporate clients in her areas of practice. She is a self-motivated individual, a great team player, a detailed analyst and a firm believer in hard work, an equal balance between career and social life and more importantly, justice for all. Ms. Asem is a product of St Roses' Senior High School and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology and Social Work from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, a Bachelor of Law (LLB) from the University of Ghana and a Professional Law Certificate from the Ghana School of Law. She is a member of the Ghana Bar Association.
