Brandy Lindsey

Brandy Lindsey is a trademark paralegal specializing in foreign and domestic trademark prosecution. Brandy is experienced in preparing and filing trademark applications and maintenance documents with the United States Patent and Trademark office. She is proficient in reviewing and analyzing data for accuracy particularly relating to chain of title documents for domestic and international registrations. She collaborates effectively with attorneys and foreign counsel with respect to trademark filings, executing Power of Attorney documents to be used abroad, and standard reporting to clients. Brandy earned her Paralegal Certificate from Roosevelt University's Post-Baccalaureate Paralegal Studies program, completing the program with Honors. She studied Political Science at the University of Illinois at Chicago receiving her B.A. in 2007.

Dianna L. Daly

Dianna L. Daly is a trademark paralegal who has been with the firm since 1991. She has extensive knowledge of both domestic and foreign trademark prosecution and maintenance; however, Dianna specializes in trademark maintenance. She is responsible for preparation and filing of domestic and foreign trademark applications, renewals, special actions and assignments, including the preparation of supporting documents, such as Powers of Attorney, Declarations, and Assignments. Dianna is well versed in electronic filings with the United States Patent and Trademark Office and communicates effectively with attorneys, clients and foreign counsel.

Justin R. Young

Justin R. Young has been with DTL since January 2000. He is licensed to practice law in Paraguay, as well as being admitted to the bar in the state of New York. He is also admitted before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. A graduate of the School of Law and Social Sciences of the National University in Asuncion, Paraguay, Mr. Young has several years of intellectual property experience from his work with renowned firms there. In addition, Justin has earned a LL.M. in Comparative Legal Studies with a Concentration in Intellectual Property with Honors from John Marshall Law School in Chicago. Justin's practice focuses on Intellectual Property prosecution in the area of trademarks and related matters, such as, licensing, e-commerce, domain names and unfair competition. His primary work consists of assisting foreign clients in all trademark proceedings before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, including trademark clearance, prosecution, maintenance, as well as oppositions and cancellations. Justin's work also includes providing counseling and opinions to aid domestic clients in effectively procuring, protecting and enforcing their Intellectual Property abroad. Justin's extensive experience in Intellectual Property law practice in South America has enabled him to provide his clients with an insight that only is achieved by first-hand knowledge and exposure in the area. Justin is an active member of the Inter-American Association of Intellectual Property (ASIPI), where he has lectured and participated in presenting programs related to the practice of Intellectual Property law. He has served in ASIPI as Sub-Chair in the Committee of Trademarks, Secretary of the Committee of Education, President of the Committee of Law firms Management, member of the Board of Directors, Secretary of ASIPI and, most recently, he served as a judge in the ASIPI Tribunal for the period 2015-2019. Justin is also an active member of the International Trademark Association (INTA), where he has served in various committees, including the Trademark Office Practices Committee, the Building Bridges Committee and the Government Officials Training Committee. He is currently serving in the Latin America sub-committee of the Trademark Office Practices Committee for the 2020-2021 term.

Laurel V. Dineff

Laurel V. Dineff has over 35 years of experience as a distinguished and accomplished trademark attorney, entrepreneur and business owner. Having graduated from top universities from all over the States, Laurel combines her extensive knowledge and experience in all areas of law and business to benefit all those she works with. Her alma mater includes: Occidental College; The American Graduate School of International Management; DePaul University's School of Law; DePaul University Graduate School of Business; Waseda University; and Tokyo University. Laurel's unique experience and background allows her to serve a wide breadth of clientele and businesses. Laurel's relationships with foreign counsel have proven to be one of the firm's most unique aspects. Her understanding of working with co-counsel comes from her strong ties to her own upbringing, as well as the opportunity to both, live and work overseas. Laurel has spent over three years living in Tokyo, Japan, while studying International Business at Waseda University and Law at Tokyo University. Laurel has also been the recipient of a Rotary International Fellowship, as well as a grant from Japan's Ministry of International Trade and Industry In addition to being an illustrious attorney, Laurel has been a featured speaker at several intellectual property forums. She has also engaged in team building and teaching international trademark law, where she combines her knowledge and unique experience in order to shed new light and perspective on the topic. Further, she has co-authored an article in The Trademark Reporter on International Trademark Law. Laurel is also a guest lecturer at The John Marshall Law School and continually hosts the schools interns in order to help aspiring lawyers find their niche. Laurel's devotion is not only evident in her work, but is also illustrated through the importance she places on her personal endeavors. She is the mother of six and instills in her children the dedication that is needed to be an influential and active voice in their community. Giving back to the local community is something Laurel prides herself on, and strives to give back in anyway she can. She was born and raised in Summit, IL, which holds a special place in heart. She not only served as Lead Police Commissioner for seven years, but raised her six children in Summit as well.

R. Peter Spies

Peter Spies has been a member of the firm since 1998. Peter is licensed to practice law in Germany and is admitted to the bar in Michigan. He received his law degree from the Rheinische-Friedrich-Wilhelms Universität in Bonn, Germany and took the relevant bar examinations to be admitted to practice law in his home country. After coming to Chicago, Peter earned his LL.M. in Intellectual Property with honors from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago before taking the bar in Michigan. Peter is also admitted before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Peter implements and manages all aspects of domestic and international trademark prosecution, including developing and maintaining trademark portfolios for multinational corporations and midsize companies and assisting his client's in implementing international and domestic filing strategies. His practice includes counseling clients on developing brands and branding strategies, trademark clearance, filing and prosecuting trademark applications in the US and abroad. Peter represents clients in enforcements matters, notably opposition and cancellation proceedings in the US and engages in foreign litigation in collaboration with foreign counsel for his US clients. Peter advises on internet related issues and disputes including but not limited to UDRP and URS proceedings, social media issues. He has extensive experience in licensing intellectual property and in negotiating agreements. Peter is an active member of the International Trademark Association (INTA), where he has served on various committees, including the Non-Traditional Marks Committee / Sub-Committee Europe & Central Asia, the Online Resource Committee and the Unreal Campaign Committee. He is currently serving on the Building Bridges Committee. He is also an active member of the European Trademark Association, ECTA, where he is currently serving on Publication as well as Membership Committees. He is a member of the Editorial Board of the ECTA Bulletin. He lives with his wife and two children in the greater Chicago area and is an active member of his community. Peter is an avid cyclist, a photographer and musician.
